riversideAK (1648), Shoreline, Washington, USA May 25, 2007 I liked this one. Mostly an aroma of pine. Poured a nice orange with no head to speak of. Flavor was very hoppy. Piney hops with a small malt balance, I got some vanilla and some sweet candy flavor. Not too pronounced though. Dry and resiny on the palate. I liked this really. Most of the beers here I found to be somewhat wattery, but this had the most character for sure. glkaiser (999), Seattle, Washington, USA May 11, 2007 Hard Liver Festival. Light amber. Lots of roasted malt. Reminds me of a slightly beefed up fat tire. Decent. Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Mar 24, 2007 Amber colour, bright. Great head retention - in a day of BWs this did it best. Rich malty nose with lots of citrus and earth - no particular focus but lots of everything. A little bit hot, and a little bit thin at the back. Quite a bit of whiskey character comes at you, somewhat drowning out the big chewy malts and earthy hops. One of those badass barley wines that demonstrates no subtlety, character nor skill but is pretty tasty anyway. ontario102 (794), Boise, Idaho, USA Feb 21, 2007 On Tap at Brewery: Huge, malty background; clean but slightly medicinal; hotly alcoholic; simple, for sure. OK.
