Aroma features the same lemongrassy citric note as the pale ale, albeit a little stronger. Flavor is crystal malt iced tea, lemon meringue, and grapefruity hops. Not very robust. Highly carbonated, weak bitterness. This is barely a pale ale, much less an IPA, much much less a good IPA. alexanderj (2280), Chino Hills, California, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 8, 2009 Pours almost no head, aroma is subtle hops and malt. Honestly, it smelled exactly like their APA and I had to ask the waitress if she was sure she’d brought the IPA. Flavor is basically APA to start, but a nice finish of grapefruit hops and a little rose hip tea kind of sweetness. Nice IPA. ABV difference is not noticeable at all compared to their ’regular’ Pale. Will order again. CaptainCougar (5526), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 22, 2009 Pours a transparent dark copper orange with a stringy-lacing white head. Aroma of fresh juicy grapefruity hops and some underlying toasty pale malty sweetness. Body starts with good fullness and sweet light caramel maltiness with a fresh grapefruity hop flavor and bitterness drying out before a crisp, bittersweet finish. True to style and enjoyable. mspindler (335), Alta Loma, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 8, 2009 Updated: Jan 19, 2009On tap at the brewery. First batch with the retooled recipe that doubles up on the hops. Pours a cloudy orange with a small creamy head. An abundance of dry hopping is apparent. Floral Hops dominate the aroma. Some citrus and sweet caramel malt. Lots of NW hop character in the flavor with just a tad of sweet malt providing the backbone. Refreshing and very hoppy but not too bitter. Medium bodied and the hops linger. A classic example of a west coast IPA. Good stuff, better than expected. Dogbrick (2901), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 13, 2008 Sample at the brewpub. This IPA pours a mostly clear orange color with a thin beige head that disappears fairly quickly. Top ring of lacing with spots underneath. Aroma of citrusy hops and bready malt. Medium-bodied and moderately bitter with flavors of hops, citrus and a caramel malt underscore. The finish is somewhat hoppy and lingers awhile. Decent overall. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

Aroma: picking up some nice biscuit and sweet caramel character in the aroma,
Flavor: rich bready malt flavor with catamel sweetness, still lots of hop flavor, long fuggely finish,
Overall: two days after the growler was originally opened it still shows most the original hop character but allows some more of the great malt to come through,

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 12, 2008 Appearance: Pours a clear, new penny copper-colored body with a small white head.
Smell: Sweetish toffee malts with a hefty dose of therapeutic citrus oils (maybe a hint of pine, too).
Taste: No more of those sweetish malts as we jump right into the resinous, citrusy hops with a moderate bitterness. Back of the throat acidity. Long, lingering aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Conspicuously oily.
Drinkability: Nice enough for an indiscreet, unbalanced IPA.
