bradlyc77 (226), Sebastopol, California, USA Jan 7, 2009 Pours beautiful deep reddish copper with 2 finger head. Nice mix of caramel, raisin, and prune with overtones of apricot and chocolate in the slightly dry finish. Well done. A great brew for #100! sfhodense (554), Odense NŘ, Denmark Jan 7, 2009 Clear redbrown with large cream head. Aroma is sweet fruit and caramel. Flavor is sweet caramel, notes of raisins. Some alcohol. lebshiff21 (85), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 4, 2009 25.4oz. bottle from Capones. Pours red, lots of beige-ish head. Tasty belgian-ness. A bit sweet, but does its namesake dubbel proud. A little fruit across the palate. Good beer.25 thejoeshow (232), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Jan 4, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a redish brown color with a big beige head that has very nice retention and lacing. Aroma is sweet and fruity with a bit of bready/yeast spots. Flavor is sweet with hints of dark fruit. There is also a bit of yeast character thrown in for some more complexity as well. Very smooth and nice. Great beer, and nice to see coming out of the US. KYackley (32), , Minnesota, USA Dec 31, 2008 Pours a light reddish brown. Scents of sour cherries, butterscotch, and chocolate enter the nose. Taste like a sour bomb entering the mouth. Good to drink in moderation, but quite a different taste to the palate. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Dec 30, 2008 Bottle. Pours a brown body with a 2 finger tan head. Sweet fruity esters with caramel sweetness. Lightly woody, notes of licorice and some alcohol. Good brew. JohnQPublic (387), Brooklyn, New York, USA Dec 30, 2008 Bottle into chalice. Pours a cloudy red brown that hints of purple, with a nice fluffy off-white head that settles into a nice creamy cap. Nose is beautiful - raisins and brown sugar, a bready malt character from the dark sweetness and the yeast, and even a bit of acidic sweetness that reminds me of red grapes. One of the best smelling dubbels out there in my opinion. Taste begins with some sparkling carbonation, adding a dryness to the raisin, brown sugar, and tangy yeast that come next. Finish is long, with quite a bit of yeast and a very subtle, dry, roasty presence. Mouthfeel is full, striking a nice balance between fluffy and sparkling carbonation. A really nice take on the style, though I would like to see just a shade more sweetness and a hair less tangy yeast. Probably the best smelling dubbel out there though. theisti (1637), Leawood, Kansas, USA Dec 28, 2008 750 ml bottle shared by my friend Brent. Pour is mahogany, a bit more red than brown with a well formed 1 1/2 inch tan head. Aroma of bit maltiness, raisin fruit, clove, and spicy yeastiness. The taste mirrors the nose closely, with the big maltiness being the main component. The sweetness is nicely balanced to the malt, and there is some nice earthiness in the finish. Nice beer.
