After learning about red beers, then Chimay red, I stumbled upon this and I like it better than Chimay Red. My standards are narrower now, but at one time this was one of my favorite beers. Tasting this after such a long delay, reminds me of why I liked it: Lots and lots of sweet long boil melanoidins and caramelization. I see this flavor also in many IPAs and a few English beers. I like it. Much better than Ommegedon yuckiness. Swalden28 (1446), McKinney, Texas, USA

Pours an orange/red with beige head. Nice floral ,spicey, malty aroma aroma. Flavor is medium sweet, nice caramel, black licorice notes, spicy hops. Palate is medium mouth feel with champaign like qualities, carbonation wise. Over all, I enjoyed this. abcfan (247), New Jersey, USA

Traditional smell of Dubbel including, caramel, malt and sweet candy. Complex enough to complement the yeast strains. Very well done. flyfisher4st (5), Conway, Arkansas, USA does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 13, 2008 caramel, coffee, herbs, earthy, brown, cloudy, frothy, tan foam, medium sweetness, chocolate & caramel flavorsfull body, soft carbonation, smooth palate. Murky brown with a thick tan head.Smells like rasins, spices, and alcohol. Very sweet and not very strong.Heavy on the sweet dark fruits and alcohol in the beginning. Has a slightly bitter and warm alcohol finish.Kind of slick in the mouth with high carbonation.Overall it is a gteat beer.
