Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

Big bottle shared w/ Simon. This was a lot better than expected. This has been cellared for at least 8 months...forgot about this guy. Nose was a soothing mix of brown sugars, belgian yeast, dark senuous malts, sweet fruits. Flavor was much the same with a delicate mouthfeel, smooth and soft on the palate. This almost sheds some similarity to a mini-Rochefort 10 - mouthfeel and flavors and on par...just a smaller scale. With that said - I dug this. Nothing mind blowing, but just a solid beer and one I would welcome revisiting.

750ml Bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki)- Brown in colour with some red tinges. Fruity aroma with some plums and a hint of cherry cake along with some raisins. The taste is rather fruity with raisins, cherry cake and a bit of caramel featuring. Fairly nice but not overly impressive.

I really really liked this beer. Bottle from Capitol Convenience. Pours dark red-brown, slightly cloudy and tea-like. Not much head to speak of. Beautiful bouquet of cherries, honey, floral notes, and bread. Taste is awesome, with cherry notes, caramel, candy, a bit of yeastiness, calm hop character and smooth malt complexion. So smooth, tasty, sweet, but not overdone. Complex. This is one of my new favorites.

Bottle @ thewolf-and-his-flock-of-sheep tasting session. Red color, thick off-white head. Aroma of soft fruit, oak chips. Dry taste, slight sour, bit sweet, oak wood. Quite nice.

Bottle. Pours a haze red-brown colour with a nice big beige head leaving a good lacing. Sweet aroma of dark fruits, caramel and some spice. Great mouthfeel. The flavour is sweet with well toasted malt, dried raisins and prunes, spices, toasted malt, bitter hops and yeast. Tasty brew indeed!

750 ml bottle. cloudy brown, fluffy head. aroma of fruits. honey at first sip, with some dryness at the finish. i keep going back to the aroma as it warms a little, finding something different, like a little spice thats comes out in the taste too.

750 ml. bottle. Poured into a trappist glass. Rich mahogany pour, beige head that didn’t last too long. Aroma is fruity/sweet and floral. A bit of sugar up front, raisins, plum, some citrus but not too hoppy-very nice balance. Medium body, a bit fizzy. Despite the ABV and style, I found the alcohol character to be burried. Very good beer.
