Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

Smagt 17/4 2008 hjemme. Den lever op til forventningerne kraftige aroma og blide brus minder den i stil om chimay’s

A hazy deep red-brown beer with a nice brown head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of berries, but also lighter notes of yeast and wood. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of yeast, but also notes of wood, prunes, and berries, as well as hints of the alcohol. It is very sparkling on the tongue due to the carbonation, and it ends of with a slight alcohol burn.

Last of several beers of the night... i claimed it was the best but all i wrote was "Robust taste, Balance, Uber". So a rerate might need to happen.

beer pours a reddish mahogany with visible carbonation, a beautiful frothy head and nice lacing. aroma of figs, raisins, prunes, malt, traces of alcohol- very smooth upon first sniff. gorgeous flavor- nice mouthfeel, tastes similar to aroma, absolutely delicious. my favorite style, and i really love this beer.

Deep amber color topped with a thick long lasting tan head. Roasted malt aroma, with hints of fruits mixed in. Taste is burned, blackened, roasted malts, and a little sweet cherry flavor then on to a candy like tangy finish. Full bodied and rich. 8.5% alcohol content does generate a rush of alcohol and a tart, somewhat burned mouthfeel. A very solid brew.
