Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

It pours deep reddish brown, with a lingering rough tan foam. The aroma is dominated by a rich spicy raisiny caramel, with an interplay of sweetness and roasted notes blended with elements of pear and dried dark fruits. Upon tasting, one is struck by the vigorous carbonation. As it subsides, the caramel takes center stage with the fruit and spiciness, making a gorgeous display of flavors. Toward the end, the spicy peppery element transitions into a streak of mild bitterness, leaving behind spice, caramel, and bitterness in the final notes with a licorice like association.

750 ml bottle: Aroma is sweet fruit and a nice roasted malt scent. Caramel, Raisins, roasted malts, and a nice fruity overtone that makes this a nice aromatic brew. Pours a semi opaque reddish brown with a thick tan head that lingers. Taste is nice caramel malt overtone with a nicely spiced note. Somewhat alcoholic but not over the top. Overall, a pretty nice drinkable ale. I’m glad I brought my bottles back and got this brew.

750 courtesy/split with Naka. Pours brown w/ amber hues. Caramel, puffy head, long lasting. Sweet caramel nose with hints of fruit; apple and raisin. Tastes of brown sugar, molassass and caramel, Pear and apple fruity notes, alcohol warmth, with a slight bitterness at the endthat lingers into the after. Some fruit and alcohol there too. This is a very drinkable Belgian that is priced very competitively.

Dark Burnt caramel color with a decent light tan head. Some light fruitiness with some sour yeasty notes and a little bit of spice. There is a light fruitty flavor kind of like over ripe apples and spicy caramel. There is a sour metallic hint, but not really in a bad way. Not very heavily carbonated, but has a very bright spritz giving it a decent body.
