Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

Bottle @ thewolf-and-his-flock-of-sheep tasting session. Red color, thick off-white head. Aroma of soft fruit, oak chips. Dry taste, slight sour, bit sweet, oak wood. Quite nice.

Very dark amber. Light continuous head. Strong fruity wine/port aroma. Classy flavour. Sweet cherry and chocolate. Alcohol kick. Almost demands a fancy cigar, steak or desert.

I have enjoyed this beer a few times in the past. Sweetness is nice and not overpowering. It pours a dark amber color with a nice head. This beer would be perfect after visiting the Hall of Fame!

Medium yellowish brown head. Deep hazy brown mahogany body. Malty egg aroma with banana notes over a cinnamon background. Dry vinuous cinnamon licorice soapy peppery taste with banana notes. Dry caramelly afttertaste with cardboard notes. Liked this less than I expected. (0.75l bottle at RBNAG’07.)

In the bottle at the Dundee Dell. This is a big beer with a big mouth feel. Very fruity and berry-like. Strong alcohol burn as it should be. Dark crimson color with an ivory head. Sure, it’s sweet, but the sweetness is easily masked by the strength of the malt character.

Wow. The aroma certainly is complex as the description says. There is fruit and malt, also roast beef and caramel. Dark red, with a large off white head that falls down, lacing the glass. One of the nicest looking beers I have had. Flavor is mostly malt. There is some dried fruit and sugar. Very full bodied. An excellent beer, and a great value.

Re-rate.Corked 750 ml bottle. Pours out in a pale brown amber appearance topped with a rich lasting off-white foam. Fruity and yeasty aroma of figs, sweet cherries, almonds and black currant red apples with undertones of chocolate, mild black pepper, fudge and brown sugar. Full yeasty flavour of fudge, brown sugar, luxury chocolate, almonds and nuts with notes of crackers and yeast dried cherries. Silky smooth body. Long finish of yeast brown sugar, fudge, figs and milky chocolate.Truly a classy brew, if a bit sweet. Another great beer from Cooperstown
