Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

Sampled at le Mondial de la bière 2005. Clear burgundy pour with an offwhite head. Appealing aroma of rich malt, caramel, fruits and spices. Very good flavor of rich malt, caramel, fruits, moka and spices. The body is light to medium with a dry mouthfeel. Excellent stuff.

Pours with a very large, rocky, light brown head covering a very deep brown body with reddish highlights. Great lacing. Aroma of currants, raisins, rotten apples, dates, prunes, chocolate, caramel and a bit of banana. Taste is banana, bubble gum, licorice, nutty malts and alcohol with a decently roasted backbone throughout. Lively bubbles with a water like mouthfeel. Tastes like the same or similar yeast to thier Belgian Stout (Chocolate Indulgence).

Brown sugar, malt and toffee are in the aroma. Hazy sunset red, pours a large toffee head with lot's of lace. Intriquing sweet malt, sponge toffee and almonds as well. Delightfully bitter, full bodied, creamy and well balanced. Fantastic!

Burgundy, small off-white head, no lacing. A rather complex beer despite its weak aroma. At first it’s all about the caramel and candies sweetness, but soon spices and some sour notes (cherries) are added and then the caramel moves aside to leave room for the spices and it all ends with a peppery finish. Highly carbonated. The rich body and complex taste hide the alcohol very well. When transferring my handwritten notes I wondered why I didn’t rate it even higher. Ah well, perfect excuse to try it again.

Drinkable and almost as smooth as the Golden Monkey. I liked this one a lot. A hearty copper color followed by a taste of a gentle, astringent Belgian ale.

Pours a dark cloudy mahogany with a nice light tan head that leaves decent lacing. Sweet malty spiced aroma, corriander, dark fruit, and sugar sweetness. Taste starts with a sweet caramel maltiness up front, light chocolate notes, fading into a spicy hopped finish. Very thick body, clinging to the palate.
