Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

750. ENormous tan head towers over what little beer is visible during the pour. FInally makes way for a dark ruddy brown brew under a big, fluffy, rocky head. Gorgeous. Mild caramel sweet malty nose. Gentle attack, light-medium body with low-ish carb. Easy sweet malt flavor, too; everything about this beer is understated except for the head. No finish. Great stuff, light on the boldness.

(Rating #237)

Deep, murky and dark amber with a reddish hue. Yellowish-tan head. Coconut nose. Lively carbonation and medium-bodied, with an oily texture. A little spicy, hot and sharpish. Lingering bitterness on the tongue ... fades into a sweet and nutty maltiness.

Hazy burgundy brown, just as the bottle says, with a towering tan head that demands you take time through the pour. Rich toffee, chocolate, banana aroma. Same flavours fill the palate, sweet dates come to mind also. Warming alcoholic finish.

750 bottle. Deep burgundy color with thick long-lasting tan head and lace. Malty sweet aroma of bread pudding, raisins, dates, prunes, nuts, bread, and dark sugars. Nice smooth carbonation and excellent palate. Delightfully full of bread pudding character and ending with a definitive smash of toffee. Totally enjoyable and pairs really well with foods.

Deeply rich and turbulent in the pour, aromatic, with scents filling the room upon uncorking. Fomay, white head, that dissipates quickly and the flavor is something unique in it's flavors of bubblegum and saltwater taffy. Strong chewy hints of of toffee and cotton candy, this would make a very good after dinner drink.

Dark mahogany color, and a friut aroma. Tastes of raisins, plums, bananas, and some roastyness. Long, dry finish. Hides the alcohol taste.

Interesting color, with that tinge of red (burgundy if they insist). Visually attractive in other respects, including sustained head. Striking aroma, suggesting buckets of candy sugar, bits of alcohol, but more than anything else a strongly fruity note. I can't quite place it but neither does it seem complex: is it banana-plum? Caramel-cranberry-muffin? The flavor repeats this strong fruity vein, with fluffy palate (lively carbonated but subdued by a rich maltiness). The alcohol can be found, but it isn't particularly pressing on my tongue. I'd like to have this in a blind side-by-side, because while there is a lot to like here, at the same time I couldn't quite find myself satisfied by its depth of flavor, as it seemingly came up short both in the finish.
