Aroma has dark fruits, caramel, earthy yeast - overall a sweet rich impression. Mouthfeel is thing and rich with frothy carbonation. Taste has most of what was predicted from the aroma - dark fruits (black cherries / plums), the earthy yeast qualities and caramel malt. Creaminess to the taste. The finish has some sourness to it - that is my only problem with the beer. Overall a very nice beer and an excellent value for the money. patrick767 (2052), fort wayne, Indiana, USA

This beer poured up a huge, foamy, long lasting head and is a very good looking reddish brown color. The aroma was sweet and good if a little light. It tastes malty and fruity with light carbonation. The finish is pleasantly bitter and crisp with a bit of nice, warming alcohol. And at four bucks a bottle at my local World Market, it’s a great deal on a Belgian brew. SHIG (2050), Aviano, Italy

Deep sweet caramel toffee smell witha floral hint. Taste was sweet and full of caramel and chocolate flavor. cheapdark (2049), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Oct 2, 2007 Beautiful swirling dark hypnotizing pour from gunk on bottom of bottle. A tempest in a mug. Really sweet aroma, nearly sickening sweet, attractive in its own way. Taste impact is burned caramel. Very strong, near whiskey bulldozer. Creamy carbonation but it’s hidden in the misandry of repulse. A magniloquent example of the style. Finish is just plain anti- amicable. In your face danno. The aroma and appearance save this selection. I’m not good enough for this brew. Very difficult to enjoy. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA

Sweet caramel complexity with a smooth medium body. Very nice domestic Belgian. FROTHINGSLOSH (2038), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA

Sampled on draft at the State College beer festival this beer poured a ruby chestnut color with a huge red-tan head. There is a strong sweet candy scent. The body is thick and syrupy. The flavor has noted elements of vanilla, molasses and ripe fruits. There is a mild alcohol burn and a sweet finish. Angeloregon (2036), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 1, 2007 My rating could be skewed based on the fact that my Ommegang was five years old and aged in a 12 ounce bottle. It was very thick, almost like a dark apple cider in color, and somewhat vinegary in flavor. I think that I definitely need to try a fresher one to give this beer an honest appraisal.
