| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 8, 2008 750ml bottle from BevMo Mission Valley. Pours dark brown with a slight ruby hue. A big beige head with good carbonation left great lacing. Tons of sweetened dark fruits on the nose with some Belgian yeast and light hops. A fairly sweet finish with (again) some Belgian yeast, another great one from Ommegang. dirtymike (2018), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jul 16, 2007 Pours a muddy brown, reddish color with a good beige head. Smell is somewhat fruity, yet rich and creamy with a hint of the clovey hefeweizen yeast smell. Taste is very unique and somewhat highly carbonated. Some spiced sweetness at 1st along with some roasted slightly bitter tastes and some flat licorice like taste in the finish. After drinking half of it, I still hardly know what to think. After it warmed a bit I like it less and am not crazy about finishing it. Definitely drinkable, but not something I particularly care for. This is obviously liked by many, but it is not my style of beer. decaturstevo (2010), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 30, 2007 A frothy brown pour with a nice tan head. An aroma of dried fruit. A hint of dates and brown sugar with some abv. A solid palate. All round a good beer that is just solid top to bottom. I hate I had to drink the whole 750. mjg74 (2000), La Mesa, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 27, 2004 Pours a deep dark ruby color. Has a big head. Very strong sweet aroma. A little bit of cherry smell. Wonderful aroma. Strong sweet powerful flavor. Some roasted notes going on. Reminds me of some barley wines I’ve tasted. Spicy alcohol finish. Warming in the chest. Good rich ale. AmEricanbrew (1999), Almost, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 13, 2008 Amber color with a slight head. Earthy, yeasty candi sugar smell. Rich, full bodied flavors mirror the aroma with spicy yeast, toasted earthy malt with a sugar honey sweetness. Not too bad.
