(brewed in New York!) The yeast qualities are highly variable from bottle to bottle... I’m practically guessing but the greater yeastyness that I L0VE is more favourable in warmer in warmer months. Belgians are indeed a difficult style, Ommegang has done well in replicating the Old World taste here in the New World. They rank right up there with Unibroue. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 28, 2008 750 ml bottle shared by my friend Brent. Pour is mahogany, a bit more red than brown with a well formed 1 1/2 inch tan head. Aroma of bit maltiness, raisin fruit, clove, and spicy yeastiness. The taste mirrors the nose closely, with the big maltiness being the main component. The sweetness is nicely balanced to the malt, and there is some nice earthiness in the finish. Nice beer. sloth (1678), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA

Dark brown, chestnut color, pretty. Fruity nose with some licorice and breadyness too. Med/full body. co2 dances on the tongue. Full somewhat slick mouthfeel. Chocolate, fruity(banannas) and dark roasted grains combine pleasently, leading to a dry groovily lingering finish. Odeed (1677), Bakersfield, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 21, 2005 poured into my new rochefort trappist glass and recieved a beautiful ruby red with a brownish looking head.my nose gathered a bouquet of caramel malts, grapefruit, candy, and spices.the flavor contained some malts, citurs, yeast, and was highly acidic.in fact a bit to much.im going to let it sit a bit as this usually lets beers like this settle.
5 minutes later its still got a bit to much acidic bite for me.maybe even a bit of lemons?im not saying its bad,but i like my b.s.a.’s a little more balanced.
