Apr 13, 2007 I have a lot of respect for this brewery, but this one is just sorta plain jane, imho. Nice rocky head and a pleasent enough taste profile- maybe the style is just getting done too much.

Nov 5, 2004 Updated: Dec 12, 2005Oh, what a great beer! Poured into a snifter, where the head stayed the whole time. Rich, fruity dark fruit taste, hints of caramel,. Pleasant bitterness, not too much. Suggest this beer to all, will try more from Ommegang!

Feb 25, 2006 Pours dark burgundy with a foamy tan head. Aroma of plums, caramel, and oak. Taste is yeasty, oak, toasted caramel malts, and rising bread dough. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with lush carbonation. Very nice Belgian style beer.

Oct 14, 2006 Great aroma of dark prune-like fruit and toffee sweetness with a touch of peaty earth. Body is a hazy brown and head is a thick froth of tan. Flavor is thick and fruity with a big sweet punch. Alcohol is present but doesn’t dominate... just provides a bit of warmth. The fruit flavoring gives just a touch of a sour pucker midway through the development. The malt presence has a bit of a smokey/peaty flavoring. Nicely blended.

Jun 2, 2006 Bu au Mondial de la Bière sous le nom de "Abbey Ale". Rousse super foncée, beau collet. Arome légé d’épice. Goût épicé réchaufant et légèerement caramelisé.

Apr 19, 2008 Cloudy brown with medium off-white head. Aroma of licorice, caramel and fruit. Taste is sweet – caramel, licorice, fruit and overly malty. Mild sourness on the finish but overall a quality brew.
