Aroma was complex with the standard yeastiness of a Belgian style but also had a ton of fruit including raisins, plums, prunes, banana tied in with a light maltiness. For some reason on my initial sip I got a mouthful of a metalic flavor but after that first sip it disappeared. Flavor was dark fruit, yeast and candy sugar. This beer was far better then I remembered it and was a nice suprise on a rainy day off from work. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA

Aroma of Raisin, Carmel, vanilla, prune, and alcohol. Drank at just below room temp for full effect. Great malty flaver, with a mix of fruitiness. World class beer. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 15, 2003 Color is a hazy, brown with red tones and a small tannish head with some lacing around the edge that just wouldn't quit.
Smells fantastic with lots of fruit and malt tones, mostly citrus with some melon, grape, raisin, and fig all dancing around with a super sweet malt in the nose thats soft and subtle. Taste is pretty much in your face with a whole lotta of malt thats sweet and lends into the the tropical feel and taste of melon and some citrusy bitterness and vanilla. Feel is medium bodied, silky smooth with a huge bitterness in the end that really soured to much for me. It started nice, but I think perhaps a little more aging would calm the bittery end down some. Not bad at all, pretty drinkable, is darn good and sip worthy as it warms. redlight (1496), Winter Park, Florida, USA

Pours a very rich brown, a beautiful beer to look at. Sweet, malty, notes of spice, caramel and brown sugar. This bottle was actually brewed in Belgium, Moorgat I’m assuming, but i will admit i do think the American version is a little more complex, both are excellent though! | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 2, 2006 First pour takes patience. Head is massive and lasts but finally subsided enough to pour a little more. In appearance it is such an inviting and delicious looking beer.Very dark tan with a kind of dirty look to it. Aroma is of raisen, toffee and a hint of malt. Very complex and pleasant. Alcohol content is significant. Mix that with the size of the bottle (750 ml.) and this is a beer to either drink slowly (too good a beer to do that) or to share with. My wife hates beer so I had to suffer through it. I found it to be a wonderful beer, complex, interesting, and delicious. Cavie (1490), Fort Worth, Texas, USA
