| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 27, 2003 This evening I was lucky enough to enjoy this brew with BelgianMaid and her very cool husband. I was not expecting this beers presence to be so pronounced. Ommegang poured a rich amber shade with a mass of internal effervesce, a giant creamy light brown head accompanied. The flavor was heavy with malt and toffee; alcohol was marked, sweet caramel and apricots, notes of fig. Not a beer you drink outdoors at 88+ degrees, but I sill enjoyed the complexity of this great brew. bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 16, 2006 I’m starting to wonder about my rates. i have had this several times and i know i have rated it, yet there is no check mark? hmmm? if you ever get a chance go to cooperstown in the fall and check out this place, it is quite simply one of the most beautiful places beer is brewed. this beer is a bit disapointing for me. more of a rock candy gig that is overpowered by the malty side kicks of this fruity fig likness. i have some aging so i’ll have to try it in a bit. gws57 (1137), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Aug 12, 2005 Updated: Aug 4, 2006Had this one bottled from DeKalb, Illinois. Cloudy, dark amber color with a thick tan head. Very complex nose; hints of citrus and other fruits, pumpkin and melon. Tastes equivalently complex, starts quite cidery and tart, quite hoppy but balanced bitterness, and finishes with bitter chocolate. Alcoholic in the finish. Outstanding. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 5, 2008 Bomber on 5/5//2008. Ruby brown pour with a foamy medium head settling to a thin ring in a few minutes. Fruity aroma of raisins and plums over a backdrop of caramel and spice. Medium/full body with very lively effervescence, leaving the palate fairly clean. Maltiness dominates the flavor, providing a sweet backbone, but substantial spicy bitterness comes on quickly for a welcome, if surprising, dry finish. dolemike1 (1129), Jeannette, Pennsylvania, USA

Some dust is in there, chocolate and fruity crystal malts. A hint of spice. Pretty standard Dubbel, really. No complaints, though no real highlights either. jeremytoni (1108), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA
