Some dust is in there, chocolate and fruity crystal malts. A hint of spice. Pretty standard Dubbel, really. No complaints, though no real highlights either. robforbes (1112), Bremerton, Washington, USA

A deep brown color with a nice white frothy head. It has a very fruity aroma with notes of alcohol. It tastes very complex with a creamy fruity flavor that fades into a roasty/alcohol taste. This is a good one! 00cobraR (1102), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Nose is mostly fruity esters, strawberries, figs, toffee, and a spice that i cannot put my finger on. Taste is very yeasty, with a strong malt make-up, some figs, and a somewhat chalky sourish finish. it is REALLY hard to put the tadte of this into words...It is interesting and different but i do not think i will finsih the bottle...with the massive head and sourness..i think this bottle may have simply gone a bit bad? Will have to try another sometime... Sickboy282 (1100), San Diego, California, USA

The initial flavor is sweet with a floral finish and doesn’t last too long. If poured right, it develops a white creamy head, although it didn’t last long for me. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 18, 2007 750ml from Knightly Spirits, Orlando FL. Mahogany pour with a two finger light brown head, good retention. Ratings from combined notes of bottles produced at Ommegang and at Duvel, 04 and 05 vintages, respectively. Aroma is a little sweet, with yeast, wood, apricot, berries, prunes, caramel and chocolate. Flavor is slightly vinous with more concentrated components eluded to by the aroma. Big raspberries, dusty cocoa, prunes galore. Additions include raisin bread and distinct Belgian yeast. Palate is warm and somewhat syrupy. Finish is somewhat dry with some good bitterness forcing its way through. This is a very good strong ale, this breweries best offering, to me. Only noted differences between the two bottles were what seemed tired yeast and less hops from the Belgian originating version. Both were consumed very fresh. Good balanced beer.
