| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 7, 2004 Bottled 750ml shared with the wife - David Copperfields NYC. For me this is too sweet an attempt at recreating a good Belgian beer. The colour is a muddy brown. There is lots of candy sugar in both the nose and the mouth, but it just doesn't seem balanced enough. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 21, 2004 Had at HBF from bottle. Poured burgundy, with a big head. Aroma of malt, fruit, yeast, spice, and peat. Tastes very complex with hints of all the aromas above. Nicely balanced, with well hidden alcohol. ChristianScheffel (4632), Odense, Denmark

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 17, 2002 Updated: Oct 20, 2009750mL bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy dark amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (bread, cookie, cake), lightly yeasty (cobwebs, basement), with notes of date and orange peel. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Seven years since my last review of this? Wow. Scores about the same as other Ommegangs...high 2’s to low 3’s is about where all of them fall. Consistent, but unimpressive. Nice aroma on this one, but rather flimsy, watery, and uninteresting in the mouth. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA

Might be my favorite from the brewer at this point, though I am not their greatest champion. motelpogo (4395), Plzen, Czech Republic
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 2, 2003 pretty strange stuff. weirdarse whiteboard marker and amyl nitrate aroma leads into rockmelon and brown sugar flavour, then some vanilla sherbet and aged port woodiness. aftertaste a little sour, reminiscent of stale cask wine. didn't quite come together right but extra marks for strangeness
