it’s burgundy character may
be too much for some.

No way you would EVER find such a classy ale here in the ’Yahoo State’ (FL). Beautiful reddish, amber color under a fluffy white head; very fruity presentation in aroma and taste reminiscent of banana and apple with a burgundy wine quality lingering in the background. A sweet mid-palate, but finishes clean and crisp. A superb domestic Belgian style Dubble. k2 (146), USA

Wonderful amber colour and a very fruit like (banana?) taste. Smooth yet assertive mouthfeel. I thought this was a wonderful American interpritation of a belgian strong ale, yet at the same time I think this is it’s flaw. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada

Hazy sunset red, pours a large toffee head with lot's of lace. Intriquing sweet malt, sponge toffee and almonds as well. Delightfully bitter, full bodied, creamy and well balanced. Fantastic! tidiaguy (168), Hawley, Pennsylvania, USA

Great complex aroma of appricot, prunes, and mildly phenolic. The flavor is warm, lightly spiced, with major fruit overtones. Rasin, cherry, and licorice come to mind. Smooth on the palate with a nice alcohol warming. FROTHINGSLOSH (2006), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA

Sampled on draft at the State College beer festival this beer poured a ruby chestnut color with a huge red-tan head. There is a strong sweet candy scent. The body is thick and syrupy. The flavor has noted elements of vanilla, molasses and ripe fruits. There is a mild alcohol burn and a sweet finish.
