Many flavors hit you all at once. Shared this with some non Big Beer Geek friends and it was too much for them. For me though, this was extremely rich and inviting! I love it! alobar (1032), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA

Taste is sweet and fruity with a hint of chocolate and toffee. Fruity cherry-like finish with a very slight hot edge. This a magnificent beer! RedHaze (370), Where the hell am I?, Nebraska, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 30, 2005 Pours a dark reddish brown with a thick two finger head that recedes to a thin layer with nice lacing.
Smell is fruity: plum, a little banana, and some mild cherry. I could smell the yeast a little, plus slightly sugary.
Taste is of dark fruits: plums/raisins, malt, and somewhat yeasty, and mildly sweet, but not too much. I could feel the alcohol much more than I could taste it. Has a very rich and smooth mouthfeel.
This is my third beer from Ommegang, and they are quickly becoming one of my favorite breweries.

This beer poured up a huge, foamy, long lasting head and is a very good looking reddish brown color. The aroma was sweet and good if a little light. It tastes malty and fruity with light carbonation. The finish is pleasantly bitter and crisp with a bit of nice, warming alcohol. And at four bucks a bottle at my local World Market, it’s a great deal on a Belgian brew. CTwriter (34), USA

Eaten after an Ethiopian food meal, it battled with the spiciness, and didn’t want to win. After some downtime, the ale revealed its toasty side. Stunning-looking in the glass, like a sunset through smog fumes. Siroy (220), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Taste with the guys from Institut de la Bière.
Give me mmmmore! Deep rich burgundy color that begs ‘drink me’. Good head and awesome lacing. Chocolate, dark fruit, caramel aroma. A rich flavor of sweet fruits that proves gratitude from being drink. A rich bold taste with a very nice finish of toffee. A true Abbey-Style.

Huge aromas of raisins, figs, plumbs and a spicy character that is near perfect. The first sip and I had a few thoughts of what I could taste and that was caramel, some toffe, said dark fruits and some yeast. Wonderful brew that I will buy again and again as long as it’s this high of quality.
