Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

Bottle @ thewolfs pre-festival tasting, Kolding.
[thank you, drmatt]
Pours deep red with a giant frothy/creamy beige-brown head. Aroma has loads of caramel and dried, ripe fruits. Some light yeasty tartness with toffee and dry grassy hops. Lovely creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is wonderful, light tart, very dry, some plums and toffee. Really nice brew.

Very strong aroma right out of the bottle. Poured a deep burgandy with a medium off white head. The impressive aroma is fruity, with yeast, malts a little sugar sweetness and wine notes as well. A little alcohol in the aroma as well. Aroma becomes richer as the beer warms. Mouth is smooth and creamy. The flavor is just as delicious as the aroma. Caramel malts, dark fruits, yeast, brown sugar and some wine is all evident. Finishes with a nice alcohol bitterness. The flavor lingers on your tongue. This is an excellent beer, I wish I had tried it sooner.

The commercial description here is pretty dead-on. Dark red-brown with a thick head. Fruity aroma, I think that citrus dominates here; lime and lemon, with a nice sweetness (perhaps apricot?) to balance it out. Flavor is caramely and buttery with more fruit. Aftertaste is pleasant and hardly bitter at all. One of the best beers I have had in a while.

750 ml bottle. Pours a beautiful burgundy with a tan, thick fluffy head. Aroma is fruity and sweet. Flavor is awesome, and it gets better with each sip. Dark fruits and cherries dominate and sweet caramel. Balanced and very smooth. Medium to full mouthfeel and a dry crisp finish. I can’t believe it took me so long to try this beer and it has lived up to the hipe.

750ml bottle, has a beautiful clear dark red-ruby pour, effervescent, made an off-white to tan colored foamy head, aromas of raisin and plum fruit with some dark candy and caramel sweetness, white wine and wine alcohol fragrances in the background, flavors of plum, raisin, dark bread, malt sweetness, faint alcohol on the tongue, some pepper and spice appear at the finish, mouth feel is more than medium, feels silky on the palate, nice carbonation, a nice drinking Dubbel.

(Bottle) Pours a light hazy dark reddish brown colour with and off white to light brown head. The aroma is fantastic and fat with clear tones of, malt, caramel, toffee, sugar, honey, doughy yeast, dark fruits like resins, figs and plums, lighter fruits like apples, sweet oranges and pineapples. Sweet but also a bit sourish. In addition, some berry notes of grapes and cherries. Undertones of tobacco and liquorice. The nose is more like an English BW than a Belgian strong. The flavour is sweet malty, sugary and dark fruity but also a bit tart and sourish. Vinous tart with grape sand cherries. The caramel and toffee tones are more laidback in the flavour. Finish is dry and spicy with a touch of chocolate/cocoa and anise. The mouthfeel is quite rich, warming, round and creamy with a champagne carbonation that dies out pretty fast. Light bitter. The sourish orange notes plays well with the sweetness and make the beer less cloying. Medium to full bodied. This is a very special example of the style and in my book a better example than many of the beer in the same category.

25 oz bottle, pours dark burgundy. Frothy, off-white head that dissipates mostly, leaves a small head and lacing. Aroma is very nice, of cherries, sweet malt, and a lot of brown sugar. Taste is brown sugar, caramel, cherries, sweet bread, and a slight tinge of citrus. Mouthfeel is a bit lighter and more watery than many Belgians, but not too thin. Overall, a very nice representation of the Belgian dubbel style. I’d buy this again.
