The aroma is sweet, apple-spiced, light ethanol and wonderful perfumes. The flavor is apple peel with a slight bitterness then sweet malt and champagne yeasty fruitions. Alcohol is present and accounted for, but not over-bearing. This is one of Americas best crafted brews and a great bargain. Its a Strong Belgian-American. roomtempbeer (185), Franklin, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma is of sweet fruit, molasses, licorice (both cherry and black). Flavor is of sweet tootsie roll, cherry (with faint black) licorice. Not unpleasant at first, but gets unpleasant as it goes. Not tasty. No hoppiness and definitely not dry. No alcohol detected. Sampled at 68 degrees Fahrenheit. temporrari (327), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA

It’s rich and complex, delicious, I’m gonna be buying this alot. I wish I hadn’t waited so long to try it. If you enjoy Belgians, you ought to like this. Nice malty aroma with heavy caramel mouthfeel. Velvety smooth throughout with a slight tangy finish. I loved this ale and went well with a hearty steak. thehoff (569), Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA

Smells like caramel and toffee, plum. Great flavor. Bursting with it. I can taste burnt marshmallow, toffee, alcohol. Tastes quite strong and I can feel it in my cheeks after just a couple of sips. Quite nice. I can't believe this is a United States beer. It makes me proud. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA

Lots of chocolate and cherries appear as it reaches room temp. Apples, pears, cherries, bananas are all present in the body. Complex and smooth, no alcohol present at all. Very nice. A rather complex beer despite its weak aroma. At first it’s all about the caramel and candies sweetness, but soon spices and some sour notes (cherries) are added and then the caramel moves aside to leave room for the spices and it all ends with a peppery finish. Highly carbonated. The rich body and complex taste hide the alcohol very well. When transferring my handwritten notes I wondered why I didn’t rate it even higher. Ah well, perfect excuse to try it again. can8ianben (907), Pasadena, California, USA

Nice deep dark red colour, with a nice dark cream head which doesn’t stay too think but does linger on the chalice. This is a sweet beer with some nice fruity overtones. Plenty of malt flavour and a touch of alcohol aroma but mostly just a good sweet belgian ale. Great finish, very easy to drink the whole big bottle.
