Deep rich brown with ruby and copper tints. Very malty and fruity aroma. Toffee, caramel, biscuit malt, plummy fruit, light toastiness, some honey. There is also some nice dark cherry aromas in here. Some heavy sweaty spiciness, a little bit of dustiness with some lingering malt sweetness. Toasty finish with a bit of light molasses and licorice. Very fruity and berry-like. Strong alcohol burn as it should be. Dark crimson color with an ivory head. Sure, it’s sweet, but the sweetness is easily masked by the strength of the malt character. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA

Fruity, spicy aroma with lots of fresh baked bread and caramel. Flavor was malty, bready goodness with dried fruits, caramel and pepper. While I doubt cave aging had anything to do with it, this beer was marvelous. The fact that it was a couple of years old probably made a big difference. I’ve had this a few times in the past but for some reason never rated it. I don’t remember it being nearly this good however. Maybe I should go and buy a bunch to sit on for a couple of years. aenimopiate (148), The United States of Texas, Texas, USA

I could taste the yeastyness mixed with the subtle overtones of apples and what seemed like grapes and pineapples. I recommend this beer to anyone wishing to try a good belgian beer if chimay is not available in your area.
