Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

Nice. Had at room temperature but should be a little cooler IMO. Very good with a little alcohol bite in the finish. Impressive Belgian from the US.

I just finished painting the wood siding on the front of our house - I’m hot and tired; I reach in my fridge, what will it be for my #500? Coors light or PBR??? NOOOOO.....I decide to relax and savor this thick and vinous concoction. Caramel and sugary sweet malts, lingering alcohol and hops. As I relax and the ale warms it becomes even thicker, hints of plum, licorice and bing cherries. An hour floats by before I finish. Sublime.......

Aroma was so pleasant...plum, vanilla, citrus rind, and more. The 12 oz bottle was more enjoyable. I think my 750ml was too young as the yeast was floating top & bottom and the dry finnish wasn’t as prevailant. The bottle itself is chock full of info. I highly recommend this beautiful tasty ale.

Pours a dark reddish brown, with a nice tan head resting on top. Aroma is sweet and malty, apple skins and honey. Flavor is similar to a port wine with licorice and cherries, apple juice, plums, raisins, and cloves. Very dry finish, wood and alcohol notes detectable. Very nice stuff, especially considering the price! My bargain recommendation!

This stuff definately made for a good night cap. Nice reddish brownish murky color. With a nice head the packed a powerful aroma punch. Dark fruits with a tiny bit of spice. A little sweet but not too much. excellent brew.

Very aromatic beer...strong grape/raisin tone with a tart cherry character, and a nice floral quality. Very reminiscent of wine or champagne. Beautiful ruby color with a large thick beige head. The flavor was not as sweet as the aroma...raisins, tart cherries, and a yeasty character in the finish. Fine brew, and very drinkable. The bottle emptied quickly!

really, really enjoyed this beer. I have considered chimay rouge my go to beer if I want a tasty beer that is also easy drinking. This is my new standard for a dubbel. I has a much richer colour than the chimay. I has more of a fruitiness both on the nose and the palate.. Carbonation is quite minimal which gives it a nice mouthfeel. I could drink this ofter. Very good beer.

I could drink this stuff forever. Some malt, but not as much as some. I’m tasting hops and caramel. Lots of alcohol, but in a good way. Nice fluffy head and a great brown color. WONDERFUL!
