Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

Bottle. Pours cloudy brown with some red highlights. Thick foamy head. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Flavor is fruity with some spice, licorice, caramel, even some chocolate as it warms. Medium bodied and smooth.

I really really liked this beer. Bottle from Capitol Convenience. Pours dark red-brown, slightly cloudy and tea-like. Not much head to speak of. Beautiful bouquet of cherries, honey, floral notes, and bread. Taste is awesome, with cherry notes, caramel, candy, a bit of yeastiness, calm hop character and smooth malt complexion. So smooth, tasty, sweet, but not overdone. Complex. This is one of my new favorites.

Wow! I wish I’d tried this one much sooner. Very complex. Not for beginners, but, a beginner will love this. A dark beauty with head. Fresh fruit smells. Taste of fresh goodness with a lot of love, smooth and rich and lite bitterness. This is what Tears For Fears would taste like if TFF was a beer. Plain and simple, I’m Head Over Heals about this one and I have to Shout!

Malt and brett notes dominate smell and taste. Layers of malt and cherries in this rich and dark brew. The yeast layer was packed down into a brick like layer in the bottom of the bottle (worth mentioning). Great carb with a bubbly sour finish. Was really surprised this came out of NY and upon reading the bottle, it didn’t, it came from Belgium, which sounds right. A great dubble but slightly too sweet overall. A great brew.

75 cl bottle. Medium to dark brown with lots of red in it and a nice head that slowly turned into lace and remained throughout. Strong aroma of dark malts, chocolate, raisins, cherries, cookies, yeast. Very rich and complex. Flavor of dark malt, very rich and malty, with cherries, raisins, chocolate. Sweet but very well balanced and very complex. An excellent beer, as good as the best dubbels in Belgium.

750ml bottle. Pours a large, tan, pitted, creamy head. Good, patchy lacing. Clear, ruby colored body. Aroma is a mixture of rich fruit - dark cherry, grape, plum and mild raisin. Not overwhelming. Also some peppery spice. Aromas are present in the flavor profile as well as some light rum and warming alcohol. Light-medium body, lively carbonation. Malt forward flavor is complemented by the lovely yeast profile and finishes super dry. A really well crafted, balanced, delightful dubbel.

Pours a deep mahogany with a thick, lasting off-white head. Smells sweet with a bit of honey. Taste is delicious with a hint of bananas and other fruit. Aftertaste is mild with a bit of bitterness. Palate is good, silky with only a little hint of carbonation. Overall a great beer.
