Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

Awesome beer. Deep amber color with a long lasting tan head. Aroma really stands out. Strong spicy, flowery. Flavor is full and rich. Mouthfeel is awesome. Great beer. Can’t wait to try all the rest.

Pours brown with a light brown, frothy head. Aroma is yeasty with caramel, fruit, refreshing and lightly spicy. Solid mouth feel with a fruity, spicy complex flavor.

A 750 ml bottle priced at $5.85 from the Northcoast Coop in Eureka, California. Deep rich mahogany color with a light brown head, and good lacing. Nose is very complex, with malts, yeast, honey apricot, berries, prunes, caramel and chocolate. Flavor is much like the aroma but even more intense. Mouthfeel is rich and somewhat oily. Dry and nicely bitter finish. Excellent overall balance. This is pretty inexpensive, and this is really an excellent Belgian Strong Ale.

It what they say it is. Very large. Red-brown head that sticks around by effervesent blooms that don’t go away. Hazy red-brown color isn’t quite burgundy, but will do. Nice raisiny or dried apricoty aroma. Big flavor of dried fruit and molasses, keeps on comin on. Beer needs to open to be appreciated. Ya gotta love this brewery, wish it was in Wisconsin.

Aroma: Dark fruits and alcohol. Lovely aroma that jumps out of the glass. Very complex. Appearance: Brownish with hints of red. Flavor: Sweetish malt balance, with alcohol evident, but not overbearing, in the finish. A little medicinal, and more straightforward than the aroma. Palate: Medium body, no astringency or fusel hotness, but a little alcohol warmth. Overall: Enjoyable, solid beer.

Pours a beautiful deep mahogany. Two finger white creamy head with great lacing and lasting power. Aroma is bready, yeasty and sweet malt. Sweet dark fruit like cherry and plum. Medium body with a nice chewiness. As far as I am concerned the epitome of the style (although I have not had all the belgians yet). Excellent beer.

Mohogany red with a thick inch of head. Stubborn lacing. Aromas are nutty, with caramel and toffee as promised. Fruit (raisin and cherry) and chocolate are more assertive on the tongue, with a lazy toffee finish. Good long palate, but medium mouthfeel. Pretty complex, good use of hops, and a malty depth from the brewmaster on this one. Very interesting.

AWESOME BEER! burgundy to ruby in color with a thick light brown head...aroma is huge and is of dark fruits, figs, raison, caramel, sugars and spices...flavor takes all of those elements and add many others to create a delicious treat (big in raison, nuts, caramels, spices, sugars, toffee, molasses, and yeast...); add an awesome palate to this great beer
