The body contained no visible carbonation, was nearly opaque and dark brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of strong vinous malts. Its mouth feel had a mild vinous malty bite in the aftertaste. Its flavor contained mild chocolate vinuous dark malty notes. VAYankee (248), Virginia, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 16, 2007 Aroma: Dark fruits and alcohol. Lovely aroma that jumps out of the glass. Very complex.
Appearance: Brownish with hints of red.
Flavor: Sweetish malt balance, with alcohol evident, but not overbearing, in the finish. A little medicinal, and more straightforward than the aroma.
Palate: Medium body, no astringency or fusel hotness, but a little alcohol warmth.
Overall: Enjoyable, solid beer. darkerdabetter (255), Michigan, USA

Dark red appearance, sweet odors, rich tastes of caramel, chocolate, and slight fruitiness. Smooth finish, sure didn’t notice the alcohol. Good stuff. obisbeer (558), Barcelona, Spain

Rich mouthfeel with cherry and a sweetness the carryies through to the finish and ends dry. Malt, carmel, chocolate, and fruit show on the palate. Awesome! | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 3, 2004 This is an impressive brew. Ample tan head, deep mahogany body, great aroma of yeast, roasted malt, and a hint of alcohol. The flavor is great, my first thought was chocolate, but the flavor is very complex and full; plenty of tastes to entertain the tongue. A well done Belgian.
