Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

A wonderful, complex beer with caramel, chocolate and malt flavors. A bit of a weird aftertaste, though. Not bad, but different.

Coupled this with the Three Philosophers tonight; dark ruby red with white head; sweet aromas are much more mild w/ more hops than the 3P; much less bite to the flavors as well; mmmm....beer

Pours an excellent dark amber with a small tight head. The lacing is there, but thin. I smelled raisins, malt, coffee beans and some carmel. The taste was very complex with a definite layering effect on the palate. I tasted some sweetness up front, with fruity notes coming through, the middle was very malty with some coffee and carmel and the finish was very clean with the alcohol coming into play. Very nice strong ale.

Bottle. 12 FL. OZ. Cloudy, dark brown with a light shade of red and a tan head with good lacing. Medium to full bodied. A smooth, balanced palate. Aromas of dried fruit, malts, and light chocolate and sweet flavor that gets better with every sip.

Bottle. Pretty brown/amber color with a thick tan head and substantial lacing. Fruity sweet aroma, almost like plums. Spicy, dry fruit flavor with some plum and cherry notes. I don’t know much about Dubbels, but this is one delicious brew.

Smagt 17/4 2008 hjemme. Den lever op til forventningerne kraftige aroma og blide brus minder den i stil om chimay’s
