Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

Bottle. 12 FL. OZ. Cloudy, dark brown with a light shade of red and a tan head with good lacing. Medium to full bodied. A smooth, balanced palate. Aromas of dried fruit, malts, and light chocolate and sweet flavor that gets better with every sip.

Cloudy, dark chestnut body with a nearly uniform off-white head. After about one minute, the head dissipates to a thin film. The lacing is spotty and sudsy looking. There is an appealing aroma of caramel, candy sugar, dark fruits, apples, root beer, and a faint bit of alcohol. The flavor blends all of these aromatic elements together into a sweet, creamy, fruity caramel concoction. The taste is really, really good. I would classify the body as medium and very smooth. It’s sweet but not overly sticky. Alcohol is apparent, but not excessively so. Very nice brew. Probably my favorite out of the standard Ommegangs.

Mahogany with thick tan head, lacing the glass all the way till the end. Aroma is slightly toasty/nutty with some fruit. Taste is sweet up-front with light roasted notes and finishes quite dry.

Pours dark brown/ruby with pillowy head, very nice lacing. Fruity aromas, caramel, toffe, toasted malts. The taste is a little rounded with berry, pear, a little raosted caramel/chocolate with a light sour drying finish. The high abv is masked quite well. Good mouthfeel, good brew.

[Bottle] Pours dark red with a towering tan head that leaves nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of pears and white wine. Pretty high carbonation with a taste that is hard to describe--a little spicy, a little fruity, some other things there too... Medium body. This is a beer that I could drink quite a bit of, very nice.

4-pack from Brewers World, Dumont, NJ...bottle pours reddish-brown with a light beige head...aroma is quite busy, sweet, dark fruits, plum, raisin, fig, molasses...flavor is rich with much of the same, some alcohol in the aftertaste...the only thing I’d take away from this beer is that its a bit too carbonated, otherwise very good.

750mL Bottle -- Pours rich dark copper with a creamy light tan head. Malty nose with caramel, figs, dates, plums, honey, and nuts. Pretty sour on the finish with some noticeable yeast flavors.
