Aroma was complex with the standard yeastiness of a Belgian style but also had a ton of fruit including raisins, plums, prunes, banana tied in with a light maltiness. For some reason on my initial sip I got a mouthful of a metalic flavor but after that first sip it disappeared. Flavor was dark fruit, yeast and candy sugar. This beer was far better then I remembered it and was a nice suprise on a rainy day off from work. VikingHammer (363), Lynnfield, Massachusetts, USA

Cloudy dark amber color, a head that lasts forever, sweet with a wide variety of tastes and 8.5 ABV that will definitely do the trick. Superb. Willin8 (55), Massapequa, New York, USA

This rich, dark red bodied beer has a nice fruit-like aroma and hints of chocolate and caramel on the palate. One of the few abbey style beers that I really enjoy drinking. It’s rich and chewy, with the slightest hint of cane sugar to finish off an amazing combination of licorice, dark chocolate, and orange rind. It’s an excellent beer for the holiday season, as well. Aroma is sweet, filled with fruits and berries as well as some caramel. Flavor is sweet and malty, with fruity/nutty notes. It’s almost oily as it coats the tongue, but very smooth, finally ending in a nice alcoholic kick. A great brew.
