Eyedrinkale (3111), Beer Town, New York, USA May 25, 2005 750 ml fresh bottle. Cloudy amber color with a decent sized head. Nice aromas of dough, grape peel, toffee and caramel. Taste is smooth with the right amount of carbonation. Flavors of chocolate and banana, bubble gum and caramel. Wonderfully complex a much different beer fresh than aged. Both are good.
pumpmaster (288), Florida, USA Oct 12, 2008 750ml bottle purchased at Total Wine Pembroke Pines, FL for $4.99 Very good. michaelvern (5), Ohio, USA does not count Oct 10, 2008 Pours Mahagonny - cherry aroma - hits with some carbonation - good alcohol. Avengedpoet (63), Mesa, Arizona, USA Oct 6, 2008 Pours a very deep maroon with voluminous head that quickly dissipates, yet never disappears entirely. Current bottle has been aged approximately 9 months since purchase, due to the over-whelming spiciness of this brew fresh. Aroma is still of heavy spice, of dark fruit, belgian funk, as well as faint cherry tartness and licorice. Taste is very deep and much more well-balanced than when fresh. The effervescent carbonation really helps to scrub the palate from the heavy dubbel taste, which makes it even more satisfying. This time around was much better than previous experiences. For people who are not fond of heavy spicing, I would definitely recommend aging it awhile to let some of that drop out. mikalooch (31), , New Jersey, USA Oct 6, 2008 Pours a deep red with thin beige head. Aroma of cherries and yeast, almost smells like a cognac. Malt and fruit to start, finishes with a flat kind of sourness which sticks around. Medium carbonation, leaves a bit of stickiness to it. Solid beer tgncc (299), Bellmore, New York, USA Oct 5, 2008 The aroam is dark fruits, yeasty, slight alcohol. Very pleasing. Very attractive amber/chestnut color as well, persistent white head. The flavor is malty, fruity sweetness, caramel. A little spicyness is thrown in as well. Strong carbonation. The finish is clean, sweetness with a some spicyness on the palate. Excellent beer.
