Pours a dark, milky brown color; creamy light-tan head with fine-bubbled lacing; bubbles soon left only on the perimeter. Sweet raisins, overripe dried dark fruits, creme brulee, and Belgian sugars in the nose; some alcohol; generous. Full, chewy, viscous mouthfeel: lots of overt Belgian sweetness (brown sugar, esters, dried fruits) coupled to a slightly sharp carbonation and white pepper notes; very full, very generous profile; not undeveloped sugar, just a hugely developed and overly sweet core right now; pushy; sharp on the tongue. Lengthy sweet finish of brown sugar, Belgian sugars, and graham cracker. I could see this developing beautifully with a couple years behind it.

Sweet dark fruit, cherries, malts, and some spices. Dark mahagony brown in color. Slight tartness from a hint of raspberry/cherry along with lots of malts and spices, a bit of dry chalkyness and some caramel. A nice combination of flavors. Hides its alcohol well. Finishes sweet and tart and spicy. This is a damn good brew. Me likey! mcbackus (755), Merritt Island, Florida, USA

This was totally out of their profile. Strong, boozy, delicious. Something that could age well. In their CAVES. It was tasty. Hit the tongue almost like a sherry and with a blast of alcohol. My kinda beer. Turned happy hour into happier hours. Highly recommended if you like them strong. drpimento (869), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 22, 2009 So rich. Pretty good holiday brew. Poured with a smallish off white head and a tiny bit a lace. Color is a hazy medium amber. Aroma is a very rich, heady, malty nutty, caramel, toffee. Flav is about the same. Body is good and so is carbonation. Finish is a little long. Not a session. Cook with it? Headbanger (1601), Aurora, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 22, 2009 750ml bottle 12/22/09 (Binny’s-Downers Grove)-Pours a dark brown with hints of amber with a medium off whtie head. Aroma of fruits, spices, and malt. Taste begins with big time spices and they last throughout the mouthful and it finishes with some sweetness and slight alcohol. This medium to full bodied brew is not the best from them but still very tasty and nice for the holidays.
