Commercial Description:
Ale brewed with Spices: Coriander, Cardamon, Mace, Grains of Paradise, Sweet Orange Peel. Adoration is a traditional winter ale, brewed in the Belgian manner, but with the twist of unusual spicing. Sip it on a winter eve sitting before a fire. You’ll understand why we couldn’t name it anything else.

Dark brown pour with thick, light tan head. Aroma of cardamom, orange peel, toffee, caramel, maybe some fresh baked brownies. Flavor is spicy and doughy, almost like a Christmas cake. Almost like a really good fruit cake. This beer is like Christmas dinner at grandma’s, and she thinks you’re losing weight.

Draft at Thirsty Monk in Asheville. Another winner. All kinds of delicious flavorings on my palate, such as. One of the best US american belgian style things. This lit me up pretty good, pretty strong and firm in the alcohol dept. But smooth smooth smooth.

Bottle from SL with some skepticism about the spices. The pour was brownish with a decent frothy head. The aroma was strong spices, cardamum, ginger-ish, coriander, oranges. The flavor was all of the spices, which wasn’t necessarily good, but it was backed by enough chocolate and dark fruits, as well as bread and coriander/orange peels to keep this from becoming a train wreck. At one point, I thought it was a bit like a Belgian-dunkelweizen with that witbier influence, including exotic spices. Whatever, nothing great, but not bad, per the label and what was intended. Mouthfeel was full for the style of witbier/Belgian Strong, airy, carbonated.

750 ml. from Mac’s on West Peachtree. Thought I would enjoy one of these after a stressful night at the hospital (worker not patient). Nice dark brown color. Translucent appearance i.e. some light gets through, but VERY little. Wow, this definitely has a nice crisp spice flavor coming through. Also, I get some banana pudding-type aroma coming through as well. A nice fruit and spice aroma. Wow, the flavor is even better in my opinion. The spices just pop out everywhere. Coriander is noticeable and the cardamon is as well, but I really not familiar with mace, so I can’t comment on that. The beer has a nice fruit flavor to accompany the spices. Nice creamy palate. I am very pleased to have tried this one. This is a nice offering from Ommegang.

Milk chocolate and cherry liqueur, aroma with cinnamon accents. Murky brown, thin yellow head. Lots of fig. Cherries are also present with an apple core finish. Alcohol obvious. Sweet and tart, but the bitterness doesn’t fit. I really didn’t get any of the spices. Pleasantly aromatic, but not all that terrific tasting.

Bomber. This one tastes like a really well made spiced imperial pumpkin with a hint of "Belgian" instead of pumpkin. If that doesn’t make sense to you, give it a try and you’ll see what I mean. It’s tasty stuff that smells even better. A wonderful, unique beer that pairs perfectly with cold weather and football. Mmmm.

Bottle. Pours a rich mahogany with a very nice head. No lacing. Nose is primarily a spice bomb - cardamon, ginger, peppery, some leafy herbalness (not DMS - but leafy). In some ways the spicing is reminiscent of a few of the Unibroue Anniversary beers. Past the spice blast is alcohol, cherries and caramel. Its nice - but that spice is really overwhelming - if the spices were half as intense this would have gotten an 8 for aroma. Flavor is more of those same spices, though cardamon is more present than in the aroma. Some toffee notes come out, along with plum and fig. Finish has a lot (too much, really) of booze which is joined by plums. Overbearing cardamon continues here. Overdone in general.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours ruby brown with a beige head. Aromas of christmas berries and spices. Full bodied with firm, prickly c arbonation. Flavor is dark malt with evergreen, cinnamon and othe spice Maybe allspice? citrus? Smooth. Not at all harsh. Really good dark ale.

Poured dark brown with a decent tan head and a sweet honey and fruit aroma. This is a dark malt beer with ingredients normally associated with a witbier, such as coriander and orange peel. However, it works really well. I love this beer.
