Commercial Description:
Ommegang Biere de Mars is a fine Belgian-style amber ale with a bit of magical space dust woven in: Brettanomyces Bruxellensis, a wild yeast which imparts added tartness, extra zing, and a touch of funk - while dry hopping enhances the hop aroma.

clear golden brown with large white head. high carbonation. nose of esters and sourness. flavor starts with some hop bitterness before some bret-induced funky sourness before some malt backbone and a touch of classic belgian fruity esters before a dry and crisp finish. a very subtle tasting brew, outside of the bret tartness, which has to be carefully examined to be appreciated. overall, an interesting, if not spectacular brew

Batch 2 October 2008. This amber ale poured with a rich off-white head and lots of floaties. There is a fruity and floral aroma and some banana ester behind the caramel malt and strong brett flavor. There is a slightly bitter finish.

Brewed in the USA...... Courtesy of AFI96, thanks Waylo. Pours a lite copper color with a nice foamy white head and lots of sediment floating in the glass. Aroma of brettanomyces, spices and malts. Taste is of spices some good old barnyard funk and sour fruit. The mouthfeel is mild with a slight dryness at the finish. Pretty tasty stuff !!!

Bottle. Pours orange with a large frothy head. Aroma o light funk, citrus, and yeast. Initial flavor features soda cracker, cracked wheat, and a touch or orange. Flavors are rounded by bitter, funky notes by mid-palate, finishing with lemon peel, dried fruits, and some spiciness. Excellent saison.

750ml bottle from batch #2, shared with BeerGestapo. It poured a reddish amber topped by a big lasting head, lots of sediment floating around. Lots of Brett funk on the nose, smelled tart and slightly spicy. The flavor was bready malt with underlying funk, slightly metallic. The mouthfeel was smooth and fuzzy, medium body. Finished dry with some lingering spiciness. Good but I think I prefer Jolly Pumpkin’s "kissed by Brett" approach to doing funky beers.
