Commercial Description:
Ommegang Biere de Mars is a fine Belgian-style amber ale with a bit of magical space dust woven in: Brettanomyces Bruxellensis, a wild yeast which imparts added tartness, extra zing, and a touch of funk - while dry hopping enhances the hop aroma.

750ml Batch 2. Pours copper orange with a large foamy off white head. Aromas of bretty funk although I imagine it will develop more in time. Also some citrus notes, orange and lemon peel, and some spice. Flavor is lemon and orange peel, earth, spice with a dry finish. Palate is medium to full bodied with medium carbonation.

Thanks to Bob for scooping this one up for me! Clear copper pour with a frothy off white head and thick lace. Dusty citric aroma. Flavor is bretty with notable hints of citrus, floral notes, and spice. Dry finish

750 ml bottle from Brusin’ Ales. Poured into my fancy new Ommegang glass. Pours clear copper orange with a bit of white head. The nose reveals a bit of brett as it warms. Its a bit dusty and comes off a bit like citrus dish soap. There’s a bit of an herbal hop nose as well. The flavor is a bit of the yeasty brett character with maybe some munich malt. Light body with high carbonation and a dry finish. Seems to have something missing though.

Bottle shared by stopbarking. Thanks Daniel! Pours a light amber color with a small fizzy short lived white head in a snifter. Smell is very bretty and dusty with some light citrus fruitiness. Taste is bretty, funky and a bit sweeter than anticipated with a lemony tang to it as well. Not overly sweet at all, and finishes slightly dry with the dusty yeast flavor. Nicely carbonated and light to medium body. An enjoyable and pretty easy drinking beer all around.

Pours with a deep amber hue with a small white head that is mostly diminshing. Aroma has orange peels in it, lots of other citrus notes and yeast. Flavor is citrusey in the beginning and has a slight alcoholic, yeasty end. You can also feel the bubbles from this beer at the back of your throat when you swallow it Medium mouthfeel with lively carbonation. Interesting tasting beer!

Color is a deep golden amber with very active carbonation and a big tall head. Aroma of sour wet hay. Taste is crisp and funky. Starting with a lighter medium body it goes down crisp with a clean feel. Finish is a bit funky with a sour apple taste then a faint hop spice that comes across peppery. After taste is dry with an odd sour and plastic taste. I just don’t like these sour things, they all have a sour apples in an old diaper kind of taste. This one is drinkable but I still wouldn’t drink it again.

Corked and caged bottle is labeled batch # 2, October 2008. Pours a hazed amber with a large almond head. Aroma is initially perfumey, almost like a lilac sachet, but quickly morphs into some barnyard funkiness. Herbal and floral hops, slightly grassy, with some white pepper notes. Light medium body has a spunky carbonation and lemony dryness. Slightly chalky. Inviting pastoral ambience. Taste is mildly funky, but the bretts could improve with some age. Vague fruitiness of white grape and kiwi join with the lemon dryness. Wow! I’m enjoying this more than I expected. This is truly one of the better American farmhouse ales I’ve tasted.

Bottle. Powerful musty/yeasty aroma. Cloudy pink-orange body, large off-white head. Flavor is mildly sweet, fruity/yeasty and delicious. Delightful.
