Commercial Description:
Ommegang Biere de Mars is a fine Belgian-style amber ale with a bit of magical space dust woven in: Brettanomyces Bruxellensis, a wild yeast which imparts added tartness, extra zing, and a touch of funk - while dry hopping enhances the hop aroma.

From the bottle pours orange, just a light haze, with a tall off-white head. I really dug this brew, great nose of dry spice and a soft cheese note, almost aged Fantome-like. Apricot and citrus come through with a soft pepper note to the finish. Dry and slightly tart end to it. Really well built.

Bottle Batch 2: Pours a slightly hazy copper with an off white head. Nice yeast character in the aroma- lightly horsey brett notes, earthy with a sweet, mild fruit presence of raisin and prune. A touch spritzy on the palate. Dry flavor overall- light horsey brett with just a touch of malt sweetness coming through giving off a prune-like note under the chalky/peppery brett. Nice and dry, but it’s missing nuance and complexity. Gaseous and dry, but still pretty good overall.

Orange color with a very thick head. Lots of sediment. Spicy aroma, with some light fruit and a touch of barnyard. The flavor is a little bit more funky but still remains a sweet, malty, full bodied beer that’s easy to drink and enjoyable as hell. Hats off to Ommegang.

Bottle shared by robert at SL. Corked and caged. Orange, hazy in color. Aroma was a light tart/sourness to it. Taste was the same, tart in flavor. Maybe a touch or orange and some spices. Dry texture. Overall good beer. Thanks Robert

750ml. My first of the style and I rather enjoyed it. Pours a lovely reddish amber with a playful white-orange head. Nose is loads of citrus fruit, some raspberry, strawberry and banana thrown in for good measure. Body follows with similar flavors, but has a surprising amount of hop sweetness. Struck me as a lollipop for serious beer drinkers, without being a Leinenkugel sunset wheat. Would like to try this again.

Pours a beautiful Mars-colored orange into a tulip. Fluffy white head recedes leaving no lacing. Soapy citrus and brett aromas. Crisp and hoppy upfront with a bretty, dry alcohol finish.

Aroma of brett, light yeasty spice, light fruity sweetness, and a touch of dusty tartness. Pours a hazy amber with a huge head and big visible bubbles. The flavor is dusty and funky initially followed by a light underlying sweet spice, perhaps a touch of caramel malt, and a little citrus, all finishing with a pleasant minimal tartness from the brett. Very active carbonation, dry finish.
