Commercial Description:
Ommegang Biere de Mars is a fine Belgian-style amber ale with a bit of magical space dust woven in: Brettanomyces Bruxellensis, a wild yeast which imparts added tartness, extra zing, and a touch of funk - while dry hopping enhances the hop aroma.

Aroma is a mix between a Belgian Ale and a sour ale; plenty of tart fruit and lively yeast. Liquid is translucent reddish brown, unfiltered; head was tan and well carbonated. Tart apples, raisins, white grape and biscuit were all part of the flavor. Not as tart as the aroma suggested, but still very good. Palate was lively and continuously bubbly. Yum yum.

thumbs down. Big time. Ommegang seems very hit and miss with me. I thought this beer was too dry and a little sour. Very weak aroma and anemic color. This beer was a total disapointment. Maybe I got a poorly handled bottle

What a great beer. Pours hazy orange / light copper with a light beige bubbly head. The aroma has lots of brett funk, some nectar fruit, spices, graininess and hints of citrus - very clean and refreshing. Medium / light body with an abundance of prickly carbonation. The flavor starts out with much of what is in the aroma and has a very saison taste to it. There is a great melding of the graininess, spice and fruitiness. The finish is peppery, clean and refreshing. The is a fantastic beer. I’d say this belongs in the Belgian ale or saison category, but no matter what it is worth trying.

Hazed amber color with some fish food adrift. Taller, light canvas colored head. Aromas of grass, herbs, hopsack and barn/attic dust. Berries and caramel gradually overtake and dominate the scents. Dry start, and actually quite dry throughout. Some light caramel and apricot flavors float about, but are not thick or overpowering. Light toasted malt noticed in the middle. Airy, yet some degree of stickiness. Mild dark fruit in the finish and into the linger. Some dubbel qualities. I think this is just starting to hit its own stride. Seems to be drying out and still has not gained a great deal of funk. Still a pleasant brew.

Bottle. Moderate aromas all around, with light bread and caramel for the malt, orange for the hops, musty basement for the yeast, and background notes of sauteed plantains, pineapple, white wine and oak wood. Head is fizzy, white with some slippery lacing and is almost fully diminishing. Color is hazy orange/tan with an average amount of large particles. Flavor starts moderately acidic and finishes moderately bitter. Palate is like Champagne, light, watery and has a fizzy carbonation. Nice aromas, but a little simple on the flavor, still a nice Biere de Garde.

Bottle at the Beer Engine with Pipper. Poured an orange color, fruity aroma. Impressive looking bottle, and none of the floaters/sediment that everyone else had (although we never hit the bottom of the bottle due to drunkenness). Taste reminded me more of some sour ales, especially in the vein of Jolly Pumpkin. Pretty good, wish my memory was less hazy on this one.

Bottle. Pours a light orange color, foamy head and lots of large sediment chunks floating around. Flavor is mild yet crisp, notes of citrus fruits, pale malts, brett, slightly bready. Finish is dry and crisp and slightly peppery. A clean yet medium bodied beer, very well done.

Unclear medium amber orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, fruity, moderate yeasty, coriander.
