I feel that in order to combat the fruity esters of a belgian yeast, a strong roasty flavor is necessary to make it obviously a stout and not just a bizarre Belgian dubbel spin-off. cspring (14), Maineville, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 3, 2009 25 oz bottle from 3 bottle craft pack. Poured dark brown that you cannot see through. Tan head that says around and great lacing. Chocolate is the biggest flavor with some coffee bitterness. Alcohol present but not overwhelming. Good beer. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 2, 2009 This truly is dessert in a bottle. Certainly a fantastic beer! I loved it! This one pours a nice velvety brown with a tannish head. It’s got some carbonation but still goes down fairly smoothly. It almost reminds me of a chocolate soda, but tastes a bit better than that. It’s got some coffee notes in it as well. I really enjoyed this one and will be certain to drink it again. Cooperstown is no longer only famous for baseball. kramer (2524), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 2, 2009 25 oz bottle, from the brewery. Pours a very dark brown body with a one finger fizzy brown head that left some heavy lacing. A good deal of visible carbonation. The nose is indeed very chocolaty with some nice roast, nutty malt, yeastiness, and light notes of coffee grounds and chocolate cake. The flavor is very earthy and yeasty with bitter chocolate and roasty grains. Finishes rather sweet with a slight mineral note. Mouthfeel is fairly soft and velvety with nice gentle fizzy carbonation. Overall, pretty nice drinker. Not the most complex, but it is enjoyable. Rciesla (3880), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

Sweet light bitter chocolate with accents of sweeter chocolate. Light malty body and some spices to finish. Overall pretty simple and straightforward chocolate. kennydiaz (193), staten island, New York, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 27, 2008 Fantastic dry chocolaty goodness. Not thin, not syrupy thick (which is what I imagined). Great chocolate flavors that balanced with a background of nice malts and modest spiciness. tarheels86 (812), Washington DC, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 27, 2008 750 mL. Pours a very dark brown with a beautiful three-finger tan head that barely fades away. Awesome lacing. Aroma of molasses, tobacco, dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, roasted malt. Taste is bitter with dark chocolate, mocha, roasted malt. Sort of acidic, long bitter finish. Feels like there is more than 7% here- almost like Kahlua. Velvety mouthfeel. No yeasty or Belgian notes....sad.
