Has some small tan head, but is diminishing. Flowery aroma, some dark fruits. Some chocolate too. Some alcohol.. Cigarette smoke taste. Some dark chocolate, and some bitter chocolate taste. Soft mouthfeel. Not a fan of cigarette smoke. Waxy mouthfeel. Stouty. Eh. BOLTZ7555 (1096), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 19, 2008 Just wasn’t a fan of this...when you name your beer "Chocolate Indulgence" I expect to be enveloped in a wave of chocolate-y goodness!!! This brew was murky deep walnut with a solid 1/2 inch off-white head. Very yeasty...can taste and smell the belgian influence...with a hint of burnt malt and smoke. The chocolate is there but subtle. Disappointment. brentfeesh (1038), Gadsden, Alabama, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 18, 2008 750ml bottle. Chestnut pour that is quite dark with a medium head. Fairly light aroma with mostly burnt and roasted malts. I don’t know about every one else, but Chocolate?? Where??? The flavor has nicely presented roasted and toasted malt but if there is any chocolate it is an after thought. Just a simple straight forward, well make stout is all I would say. Carbonated medium body. While I am mystified by the name and was expecting more chocolate, I did like it. santos999 (318), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 18, 2008 Pours a nice near black with a rich beige head. The aroma is kinda weak, but has some chocolate and coffee, and surprisingly little yeasty notes. Same with the taste – it’s like a regular old stout with a thin body and not much character. It’s almost as if the Belgian yeast did nothing to the flavor profile. I love Ommegang, but this one missed the mark a bit. Nephilium (553), Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 2, 2008 Not much aroma here, hints of raisins, sweetness, and just the faintest hints of roast/chocolate. Pours a nice opaque black, with a huge light tan head. The flavor has more of the roast characteristcs I was looking for, slight dark chocolate notes, fairly dry, not the best chocolate stout, but a very drinkable one. BT (85), Newtown, Connecticut, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 31, 2008 Pours a rich dark chocolate brown with a soft foamy head; aroma is sweet, cocoa and coffee; flavor is similar with slight bitter finish, palate is a bit dry, however. sinkr (219), Lusby, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 30, 2008 750->English pt.: pours an average, frothy, light brown head atop a black body. Aroma of caramel, molasses, grain, and coffee. Body is medium, texture sticky, and finish astringent. Flavor’s duration is average, all being lightly sweet, acidic, and bitter. Drinks more like an British ale than a true Belgian and not as much Chocolate as one would hope for.
Overall, however, a very good beer.
