Getting my notebook online. Bottle. Pours a thin dark black. Belgium yeasts take over the taste. Very little chocolate or cocoa flavors. A bit disappointing.

On tap at Sharp Edge. Pours dark black w/ thick foamy dark beige head. Some nice lacing. Nose was dark chocolate espresso grounds sprinkled with sugar. Dark burnt bitter chocolate flavor. Some strange funk and dark fruit. Leaves a dry and dark bitter aftertaste like black Starbucks coffee. Pretty solid thick body. It is tasty, but not as good as I would have hoped.

From a 750ml bottle aged about 10 months. Deep chocolate pour with a large creamy head. Aroma of chocolate, dark malt and dusty belgian yeast. Rich, creamy taste with just the right amount of chocolate coming in. Ends with a sticky fruit sweetness; like some dark cherries.

Corked bottle
Pours a rich coffee black with what looks like Heath bar crumbles at the bottom of the Duvel tulip glass. Aroma is chalky chocolate powder and roasted caramel. Taste is a blend of roasted chocolate nut with a subtle smokiness in the background. A bit of peat is also in attendance. Silky mouthfeel. A nice beer that I’ll definitely try again.

From bottle : Pours a dark brown color, with a light brown half finger of head. Nice lacing around the glass. Aroma of sweet malts, chocolate, and a little alcohol. Taste is mainly chocolate and cocoa, with some malt toward the end, and also a little bit of bitterness on the finish. A pretty full body, and smooth feel going down. A nice chocolatey treat.

Draft at Hop Leaf. Poured an opaque black color with a light brown head that left some lace behind. Not surprisingly, there was lots of chocolate in the nose. layers of cocoa, chocolate bar, and chocolate brownie were accented by a hint of alcohol. Medium bodied, smooth mouth feel with carbonation on the low end of the spectrum. Slightly sweet with a flavor reminiscent of a low alcohol chocolate liqueur accompanied by some burnt toffee, and a hint of roast. Good stuff.

Gift to my wife on our 29th anniversary. Pour dark brown, with substantial rocky, longlasting tan head. Lots of lacing, all the way to the final sip. Aroma of dark roasted malt, chocolate malt, and real chocolate. Taste is the same, with chocolate definitely in charge. Taste evolves as it warms, eventually coffee appears in background. A slight sourness, but not really sourness, can’t put it to words. Slight smoke in the dry finish. Very smooth palate, adequate bitterness. Nothing to fault, everything to like in this one!

Tap at the Sunswick. Poured very dark chocolate brown. Definitely looks thicker than it is. The nose was as stated, all chocolate. I was a bit surprised by the flavor, and the fact that the mouthful was a very medium body. But the flavor is quite good, lots of chocolate, and some burnt sugars, maybe some coffee. It reminded me of the Mikkeler breakfast geek, and that is a high compliment. I really liked the malts they used,so much that I followed it up with another one.Nice beer.
