A very nice Stout! Pours with a good big head, with roasted malt aromas. The flavor is suprisingly not very sweet, which was a plesant suprise. Lots of dark chocolate, and dark roasted malt flavors. There is a strange musty/sweat flavor in there that does not balance well with the rest of the flavors. But overall this is a beautiful beer.

Pours a beautiful rich black color with big frothy tannish head. Aroma is very metallic as it appears the yeast gives off an iron aroma. This is intermixed with light notes of chocolate. Taste is somewhat bland., it’s essentially the metallic yeastiness intermixed with some chocolate. Overall, it’s not bad, but at $10.99 a bottle it should be better.

Pours a pitch black with a medium mocha head that slowly fades and leaves lots of bubbly lacing. Aroma is dark roasts, slightly smokey, and a bit of cocoa. At first it tasted like blood.....no, I’m not a vampire, but it tasted very iron-rich. Taste is cocoa, dry roasts, and some sugars.

Bottle. Pours a deep chocolatey brown with a thick chocolatey head. The aroma was bitter dark chocolate and roasted coffee. Taste starts off bitter and roasted but gets sweeter as the bottle warms. The palate was slightly thinner than expected but still good.

Bottle: Dark brown with a large, creamy tan head. Smells of light roast and coffee, just a bit o’ chocolate. Some of that Ommegang yeast too. Flavor is flat and dry chocolate (like the kid’s nestle quick), light roast, and a little metallic tasting. Not nearly what I had hoped for. At least the body is thick and creamy...

Black with a thick and long lasting head. Looks good in the glass and gives off the aroma you’d expect (though i wish the chocolate was a bit more in your face). Tastes good, chocolate and coffee, a bit overly roasted flavor for my tastes, solid beer.

Appearance: Pours an opaque black body with a dense, lingering, beige head. Smell: Aroma of cocoa powder with a noticeable sourish leaning. Light notes of roasted grains and a few snippets of licorice Taste: Cocoa powder with a middling sweetness that’s thin on chocolate flavor (especially when one considers the name), and makes up for it in sourness. Hint of licorice, roast. Slight bitterness. Dry, chalky finish with a peculiar aftertaste. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Smooth mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation. Drinkability: Sorry, but no, I just didn’t care for this beer that was about as much fun as peeling potatoes.
