Nose of chocolate, and some yeast, along with light sweetness, but mostly chocolate; black with brown edges and a big, glass-lacing, tan head; flavor has a bit of hop bitterness, a light smoky note, and the bigtime chocolate! Finish is chocolate and light hops! Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 14, 2008 Poured a deep, opaque, slightly watery black with a medium, tight slightly off white head. Smells of dark chocolate and coffee. Flavor was all chocolate, hardly any malt to speak of, with maybe a hint of Belgian Candy or something else lurking behind the chocolate flavor. Fairly silty on the palate with a dry finish. I paired this with a chocolate peanut butter pie I made for my girlfriend’s birthday and it was outrageous. Certainly not a session beer, but a great dessert beer none the less. golubj (1289), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 13, 2008 Bottle. Black pour with some light brown head. Nice chocolate aroma, semi-sweet, and some roasted malt. Flavor is semi-sweet chocolate, lightly roasted malt, and some underlying fruit / slighly funky yeast. The chocolate and roasted malt creates a bitter finish. Overall, it is an enjoyable chocolate stout with a unique mouthfeel. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 1/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 20/20 | Mar 9, 2008 Meh...very bitter in the aftertaste. Not much, if any chocolate flavor. A slight disappointment, really. Ommegang could have used more chocolate aroma, at least. On the bright side, lots of malt body. bma4573 (136), Mechanicsville, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Pours a dark choclatey color, with a slight brown head. Strong aroma of malt and chocolate. Sweet flavor with hints for coffee and chocolate, and drinkable, not as much flavor as I expected. But good overall. TomDecapolis (3174), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA
