Pours pitch black, wonderful creamy beige head. Great lacing on my glass. Aroma is chocolate, lightly roasted malts, prunes, coffee and notes of Belgian yeast. Light and low carbonated. Flavour is wonderfully dry, dark chocolate. Some roasted notes amongst some yeast. Soft, velvety and great. RomanW70 (297), Providence, Rhode Island, USA

Tatse has addistional notes of coffee and roasted malt. Has a bitter finish. Thick mouthfeel. Good stout, but doesn’t quite live up to the name. gunhaver (1043), Tampa, Florida, USA

A big foamy creamy light-caramel colored head entices all. Lacing is all over the place. Looks beautiful. Big roasted chocolate and nuts in the nose, smoky coffee grounds, thin molasses. I like where this is going. Flavor is soft, roasted malts. Chocolate isn’t as big as expected. Various nuts with some slight coffee. Thin/medium-bodied. A nice warming malty mouthfeel. Bitter, chocolatey finish. Easy drinking, and quite enjoyable. tjthresh (1780), Greenfield, Indiana, USA

The aroma it coming off as Nestles Quk powder. A bit smokey, and roasty. The flavor reveals nothing worh indulging in. Mostly just roast. Very little chocolate. Thin body. High carbonation. Dry finish. This beer is just plain boring. Radek Kliber (3986), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada

Appearance: Handsome dark brown ale , medium creamy top. Good laced ring placed on glass. Nose : Wood scented chocolate nose , minor smoky malt hints paired together with full brown malt , light aromatic hops as background.. Very nice bouquet, Flavor/Palate : dark moist woody accents, mineral midlle , rough carbonated side of chocolate malts. Some dry roasted elements at end with soapy following. Sadly substance felt a bit thin.f-7-

For some reason I felt like this was going to be a special beer, but it just tastes like a good stout. Not too much chocolate in the arome or taste....kind of a bummer. I actually bought this for my wife for valentine’s day, but she got sick and I drank it all....that’s a good thing though, because I hyped up the chocolate in the beer and I’m sure she would have been dissapointed too. vadavid (131), Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 24, 2008 Pours a very dark brown with a thick tan head. It certainly looks like chocolate! The aroma of dark bitter chocolate is very strong and to me it was almost off-putting. Besides the chocolate (dark cocoa, not milk) I noted some dark fruit backed by a faint tartness. The flavor was full of cocoa bitterness, along with some roasted malt that lingers in the end. The beer is only 7% ABV but a bit of alcohol warmth comes through in the finish. The mouthfeel was moderately carbonated and not as thick as I had expected. Not horrible, but not the best chocolate beer I’ve tried. gpekar (229), Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 24, 2008 Poured a dark opaque almost black color with a thick creamy light brown head. This looked great in the glass. The aroma was rather mild more smokey wood than chocolate. The flavor was also initial of a smokey wood. It took awhile but then the mild flavors of bittersweet dark chocolate and cocoa came through the flavor. Also tasted some dark roated coffee flavor almost on the bitter side. This was a nice beer, but I was kind of disappointed that the beer didn’t match up to the name given it. I was expecting a little more.
