Commercial Description:
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

Bottle. What a wonderful brew. Fruity orange aroma. Hazy yellow body, small white head. Flavor is full of malt, some yeast, and a nicely blended fruitiness. Spicy finish. Excellent.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy gold with a three finger massive white head with great retention. Aromas of spice, vanilla, lemon, yeast. Taste is effervescent with some sour apple and white pepper in the finish. Watery on the palate. 7.7 is nicely hidden.

750 ml bottle: pours tawny straw yellow with slight haze and elegant white head. Striking pucker just from aroma. Mouthfeel is prickly with lemony flavors, mineral and some yeast funk and pepper. Flavors mute a bit and remind of a golden ale as it warms.

Bottle at Eulogy, Philadelphia 18-11-08. Pours a lemony in fact urine colour with some haze and a slim white head. This I found to be a bit sweeter than some saisons. Very soft feel in the mouth with thousands of tiny bubbles skitting about. Nice light lemony vanilla flavours, yeastiness and the sweetness showing again. Nice beer just a little too sweet for me. An awesome saison. Pours a straw yellow with a big frothy head. Nose is yeast, lemon peel, coriander, peppery spice and some funk. Flavor is same lemon and pepper goodness with some brett presence. Finish is lingering citrus bitter. An exemplar of the style and VERY refreshing.

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber, slightly off-white head. Aroma is a bit vinuous and a touch of dry citrus. Flavor is malt, spice and some dry citrus/wheat. Nice dry finish.

2007 750ml bottle. Pours a cloudy peach color with a half finger white head. Nose is yeast and spice. Taste is white grapes, coriander, light cloves, pears and yeast with a light lemon finish. Medium, prickly mouth feel. Very refreshing and light, especially following the Mikkeller Black I just had.

Pours a hazy golden color with a good head, and quite a bit of carbonation, which is not unusual for Saisons. The flavors were of citrus, apple, and the finish really stuck out like bubble gum to me. This brew is a nice American Saison style. The price is great for a 750ml bottle, only $6.50! So, if you want to try a saison and have yet to do so, this is a great "starter saison!"
