Commercial Description:
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

750 mL bottle from Total Wine (purchased August 2008; cellared just over 1 year). Golden yellow pour with a thick, fluffy white head. Wonderful, complex aroma of lemon, orange, vanilla, and a hint of banana. Flavors range from mildly sweet to lightly sour with everything realized in the aroma in between. After a few duds in the saison category I knew I needed to give this beer a fair shot and I’m glad I did. An excellent American saison.

Flaske: Flot gul uklar øl med et stort skumhoved. Duft af gær og en smule sur. Smagen er meget sur på en overraskende måde, lidt ligesom en appelsin der er næsten moden. Flot øl men lidt for sur.

Pours a hazy gold with a tight white head that leaves a nice lace. Aromas of yeast, lemon, banana and spice. Highly carbonated (maybe a little too much) with flavors of banana, yeast and spice. Very light and refreshing with a nice dry finish. An excellent American Saison.

Appears a very light golden/yellow with a bubbly head that turns into an island/crown. Carbonation continues throughout the glass. Smells vinegary and maybe a touch sweet. Taste is crisp and rustic, as the label says! Very dry finish with a dancing sensation throughout the sip. Sour is there, but not nearly as much as a lambic. Mouth is light bodied and heavy carbonation. This is extremely easy to drink, not nearly as scary as I had feared. Would buy again, now I want to try some more of this style.

on tap at Cole’s. Clear light ochre colour with slight head and lacing. Slight funk in the aroma, but not in flavour. Refeeshing, fruit and floral flavour. Nice aftertaste

Rich golden-orange with a soft white head. Aroma of banana, lemon and yeast. Taste is fruity sub acid effervescence, banana bread, yeasty, undertones of pepper-spice with a smooth finish that entices you for more. Incredibly drinkable, palatable and versatile for a late summer beer.
