SamGamgee (585), Santa Cruz, California, USA Jun 23, 2008 75cl bottle. Hazy gold/orange with a big white head. Big orange, clove, cinnamon, and ginger aroma. A little sweet and malty, not in an absolute sense but certainly compared with something like Dupont. Has some citrus tang and spice in the finish, though not nearly as expressive in the spice as the aroma is. The palate has a drying feel, but in a weird cotton-like way. Ample but looser carbonation. I like it, but it’s not quite up to the best saisons that I’ve had. I would definitely like it a tad dryer. The weird cotton taste/palate that crept in almost feels like it could be a little oxidation, and I’ll definitely be picking up another bottle soon to find out.
nbutler11 (208), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Oct 6, 2008 Updated: Oct 7, 2008Pours a hazy apricot color from the bomber with an eruption of frothy off-white foam that leaves graffiti-like lacing. Smells of banana and yeast, almost like a hefe, but tastes of cream, orange peel, straw, hops, and mild vanilla. Finshes with a little copper and alcohol. An interesting brew to say the least. darkguardian (178), Florida, USA Sep 27, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a orange amber that is cloudy with a rocky foamy quickly disappearing head. Nose is slight sour funky with a nice yeast underpinning. Some light citrus and hay also. Taste is way to strong on the alcohol. Thats all you taste up front. Creamy body with a lot of yeast and a lightly hoppy and lightly bitter finish of spice and a little funk. If it weren’t for the heavy alcohol note this would be a winner. As a western take on a saison though, this works pretty well. Lingering notes of Caramel and Vanilla and a very slight sour note redeem this one. Not too bad. MartiniFiend (101), Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, USA Sep 26, 2008 Bottle. Pours cloudy gold with a foamy head. Lots of lacing from start to finish. Hop aroma hith a hint of yeast. Thick abd creamy to the palate. flavor is hoppy at first with a sweet finish. SHANER4 (211), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Sep 26, 2008 Poured a hazy golden color with thick white head. Aroma is sweet malt, citrus and yeast. Flavor is light, sweet and spicy on tongue. Overall a great brew and the high abv. is a bonus. MrBunn (889), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 24, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow/gold with a big head and funky, spicy aromas. Flavor has kind of a buttery sweetness with some grass, a bit of funk and yeast. Doesn’t really go in any particular direction, though. It is solid and all, but boring.
