Commercial Description:
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

on tap at Cole’s. Clear light ochre colour with slight head and lacing. Slight funk in the aroma, but not in flavour. Refeeshing, fruit and floral flavour. Nice aftertaste

Location: 12 oz bottle Dave bought at You Save, 12/5/09

Aroma: The aroma has lots of spice, citrus, and yeast, some floral
Appearance: Clearish yellow-gold color with a nice white head
Flavor: Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter, nice flavor
Palate: Plate is light-medium in body, nice mouthfeel, somewhat fizzy
Overall Impression: Overall, this is a really nice, quality saison. I know I’ve had this one before, but I hadn’t rated it. I did enjoy it.

Location: From my buddy Dave who got it at U-Save in Frostburg, MD.

Aroma: Light, semi-sweet aroma.
Appearance: Nice golden appearance, clear, small head.
Flavor: Slightl sweet, light hoppy beer. Sweet, but with a midly sour aftertaste.
Palate: Light-medium body, nice texture with a lively carbonation.
Overall Impression: I really like this beer - it’s almost like a nice witbier but with more alcohol. I’d love to have few of these.

Pours orange-yellow with a thick, bright white head. Aromas of yeast and a little citrus. Slight citrus flavor with some apple as well. Also some spice. Finish is funky and yeasty. Nice beer.

Pours a hazy gold with big white fluffy head and lots of lacing. Pretty light on the nose although there are hints of bread and yeast. Taste is light sweet malt with hints of citrus, honey, and hops. There is some spice and banana that comes and goes. Medium mouthfeel with lots of carbonation.

75 cl bottle. Pale slightly hazy gold pour with a nice loose foamy white head. Lots of citrusy, hoppy aromas a bit of good barnyard funk. Grainy taste with a citric acid finale, quite dry enjoyable taste. Mouthfeel is a wee bit rough but it becomes okay when the beer sits a bit.

Bottle from Keller’s IGA. Pours slightly cloudy gold with a small white head. Aroma of orange citrus, yeast, straw, farmhouse, earthy notes, and mild spices. Flavor follows suit, with notes of apricot, apples, grass, sweet malt, and some warming alcohol. Medium bodied, with a citrusy, spicy, yeasty mouthfeel. Very nice saison, and the price is excellent.

12oz bottle at Flatbread Burlington. Pours clear yellow with a small head. Nose is nicely yeasty and very fruity and citrusy. Taste is citrusy and quite yeasty. As I go thru, it gets a bit to much alcoholic on the finish. Quite dry. Good beer.

Pours hazy, light gold from the 12oz. bottle into a trappist glass at Funky Buddha (Boca Raton, FL): I feel like runing to the nearest pasture and surrounding myself with a million haystacks. Tastes of grass and earth, but not similar to the IPA style, rather a more literal interpretation of it (think legit chewing on wheat grains). Musty and tart (citrus peel) balances with some faint, bitter hops. Drinkability: An enjoyable session ale that really brings the "farmhouse" to palate. Rebuy: I can definitely have this again. #227 on 29112009, DG.
