Commercial Description:
Belgian pale & pilsner malts w/ Styrian Golding for bittering and Saaz for aroma. Ginger predominates the spicing. Fermented in primary with Ommegang's house yeast, followed by secondary with Brettanomyces bruxellensis. Dry-hopped in secondary w/ a blend of hops; Tettnang being the stand-out. The flavor profile is very herbal with an earthy undertone (very fitting for a Belgian-style farmhouse ale). The dry finish and pronounced hop aromas hide the 8% abv very well. Dangerously drinkable for its strength and character.

750 mL bottle of batch 2. Pours hazy gold with a white head. Aroma is quite tart, with green apples and a touch of cloves underlying it. Flavor has a light tartness, some hops, green apple, a bit of funk, very dry. Overall, decent but light.

Love the Brett! It says "funkhouse" on the label, and it’s truly funky. But it just works. Easy to drink and you don’t develop a taste (tolerance?) for the flavor, so you don’t get used to it -- In other words, it’s like a new drink every time. Very tasty. It’s like the Boulevard Saison Brett, only... funkier.

Batch 1 bottle. Pours a cloudy, golden-blonde color with a small, foamy white head that leaves thin strip of lacing behind. The aroma is very crisp and dry with citrus fruits, lemon, orange, and the bretty yeast. The flavor follows with the orange and lemon with some barnyard funk in the background. The brett quickly dries things out and adds some tartness to the flavor. This bottle was aged for just over a year and the brett has taken full effect with this one. Medium bodied, dry, and ample carbonation lends to easy drinking with a long, dry and bitter finish. Another solid beer from these guys.

Bottle at a year plus.

Very tangy, brett-driven saison; plenty of citrus as well. Better than I expected and certainly above the bar for anything else I’ve had from the brewery. Still, balance isn’t the name of the game here and (perhaps unfairly) I find myself comparing it Orval, against which it simply cannot match up.

Pretty good saison from the ’gang. Golden color with a white head. Aroma is fairly sour and funky with malts, yeast, and earth. Flavor is fruity and wild like a saison should be. Noticeable brettanomyces sourness and alcohol. Farmy in a good way. Medium-body with considerable carbonation and a dry finish.
