Aroma – A deep Belgian aroma with some strong hops also coming through. Some high alochol also coming out.
Appearance – Deep straw yellow color. Cloudy and thin head.
Flavor – A deep Belgian flavor with lots of hops this was a good Saison but the "Bret" was nothing to brag about for me.
Palate – Decent had some good flavors but was thin and odd for me
Overall –I liked parts of the beer but it was just not my style. "Bret" what ever in my book it is just a bug.

However the almighty Patriots pulled out yet another victory and saved the world. Bottle. Appearance was clear golden at first but then hazy, small head, fizzy. Aroma of honey, spicy hops, very tripel-like, some fruit, maybe apricot. The flavor was decent but something lost iin the overcarbonation. I let this settle and warm considerably before drinking the majority of it. Hints of cola, pilsner malt, some fruit, light bread, sugar, banana, citrus notes and a touch of wheat. Oh and the belgian yeast qualities were present, but I did not detect the funk, very little sourness or tartness. Good overall, but I found this beer to be too crisp, overcarbonated and bordering on acrid. I’ve yet to drink an Ommegang beer that really impresses. jcwattsrugger (5563), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

Aroma is spice-peppery, some malt. Taste is spice-peppery, some malt, then a tea like taste. Light side of medium body. Have a 750 that I’m letting age, hopefully the suggestion many have made is right for this one.

Grassy, herbal hop aroma with some mellow funky brett character. Flavors are crisp, clean and mostly bitter at this point. Not sour. I thought the bottled version might contain more funk power, but it seems to be on par with the draught version I had previously. Clean pale malts, loads of powerful Styrian bitterness and grassy/earthy character towards the finish. Super dry finish, tart. Overall, really nice right now-- I’m sure this will get better with some time. asedzie (456), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 24, 2007 Bottle. Batch #1, June 2007. Pours hazy golden with relatively thin white head. Aroma is floral with hints of citrus fruit, strong yeastiness and bready smells. Soil and earth smells as it warms. Flavor is doughy with tart fruitiness. Has a very light sweetness, not syrupy, but still feels a little artificial. Pleasing, champagne-like dryness. Mouthfeel is creamy, lively with carbonation. 37steel (186), St. Charles, Illinois, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 23, 2007 Pours a cloudy golden straw with a frothy head. The nose is a nice blend of flowers, citrus and funky/bretty yeast. Medium-bodied with creamy-soft carbonation and a tight sour finish. Sour, lightly spicy and citric with a big hit of bretty funk and a lightly dry, mild, lingering, sour finish. I enjoyed this one quite a bit, but at $12 a bottle, I’d be more inclined to grab some Orval the next time I want some bretty goodness. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Nov 23, 2007 Great saison! Got this at Bocktown Beer in Robinson and the owner and bartender were jokingly telling me it was awful and I shouldn’t buy it because it was their last bottle. So much complexity in this beer and so easy to drink. Aroma was huge. Funky and flowery aroma with some lemon and yeast in there as well. Pour was a cloudy gold with a nice 1 finger white head that lasted through each glass. Taste was very complex and delicious. Funk, lemon, and hops were all present. A bit of spiciness in the aftertaste. Nice carbonation and an almost creamy mouthfeel if swished. The hops are nice in this beer...more so than any saison I’ve had, but not enough that they stand out. Oh and 8%??!! You would think 5 while drinking it. Hides it incredibly well!
