Indra (1808), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA May 10, 2008 750ml bottle, Batch #1 - June ’07. Aroma takes a few sniffs to pull out some of the complexities, but once this is done reveals pale, dusty, sweet malts, leafy, herbal hops, lemon citrus, green apple, faint ginger, menthol and some musty, doughy yeast which is augmented by the light brett character here. Hazy light-medium golden color with a lasting, fine-bubbled head and spots of lacing. Flavor profile is very quickly sweet and fruity to begin, turning citric, mildly spicy and peppery, and finishing with a stronger suggestion of brett funk than indicated by the aroma, combined with a light dosage of bitterness and lingering dried, leafy, tea-like herbal tinges. Palate is dry and smoothly effervescent, body is medium-full. I seem to have warmed up to this stuff a bit over the course of the bottle, I suppose initially expecting something a tad more bombastic, I suppose (no pun intended).
redlem (1087), Illinois, USA Jul 5, 2008 Batch #1, 6/07, it took me awhile to find this being on the neck label.
A hazy blonde color with a small fast disappearing head. A medium sour aroma mildly grassy very subdued. Taste is tart with some fruit but the finish is a little to sweet for me and it clings. A disappointment for me. rampmaster (115), Alden, New York, USA Jul 4, 2008 Presentation: It was poured from a brown, corked and caged bottle marked batch #2, March 2008 and served in a tulip glass. The body is cloudy with a pale yellow orange color and it has some active carbonation that rushes up to the head. Its head is white, fluffy and builds up thick and tall. It has excellent retention and coats the whole inside of the glass with lace. The aroma is lovely combination of fruity and funky yeast with notes of pear and dried apricot, mellow floral hops, light wheat and doughy malt. The flavor hits the tongue with tart funky yeast, sour grain and wheat. Hops come in and add an almost minty herbal flavor and mild bitterness. The finish is dry and the yeast flavor lingers, begging me to sip again. On the palate it has a light to medium body and a smooth texture with active yet smooth carbonation. Its palate makes it easy to sip and its complex aroma and interesting flavor enticed me to drink on. Very well done!
Immy (1472), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Jul 3, 2008 C&C 750, Batch #1, 2007. Murky gold with a big white head. Nose is odd, but pleasing - lemon and a bit of bretty funk, fruity and dusty. Fruity flavors, dry and dusty. Bouncy medium body, well carbonated. I freakin’ loved this one! AllAboutStout (386), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 2, 2008 Batch 1.
Pours a light, straw colored with a nice, well carbonated, frothy white head. Smell is somewhat floral, with a tart aroma as well. Taste is wonderful brett, as well as some floral and spice. The perfect amount of carbonation as well. This is a pleasant surprise. I went into this beer not knowing what to expect and it has exceeded my expectations in every facet. This is a wonderful summer night while watching baseball kind of beer.
Creamy and smooth on the mouthfeel. Non-cloying and refreshing with each sip. Very easy drinking. mtoast (279), City of Rust, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 30, 2008 Batch 1, so about a year old now. Light golden color, big fluffy white head, big brett nose at first but that seems to die off after a few minutes. Flavor is mildly tart, little bit of green apple with a bit of a bready finish.
